pflaming
A friend has a Mopar 270 V8. Does it take a different fly wheel than a 218 with a three speed?
BigDaddyO
I would be surprised if they interchange.

wayfarer
The big 'flywheel' difference between the 201-208-218 (23") and any other pre-62 engine is that the face of the crank flange only projects 1" from the face of the block whereas on all of the other L6 and v-8 (except for the 51-53 331 Hemi) the face is at 1.1875". Starter engagement issue will make you crazy until you figure out what happened. Yes, they all use the same bolt pattern (although I have heard of some 'A' engines with a different bolt circle diameter). Up to and including 1956 the tooth count is 146 and 172 after, but again, some 146 were used on L6 through the 60's... Never say never with Ma Mopar...
