Was fortunate enough to pick up a 47 d24 coupe but it has no starter,  wondering if anyone knows what compatible starters would mate up with the 230/fluid drive trans that is in it. Its driving me nuts. Any help would be appreciated.post-6491-0-68916000-1395243530_thumb.jpg

I can't prove it in writing but I believe any dodge or plymouth car starter from 46-55 will work. 56 if you want 12v.

I believe any starter from a Crashler, Desoto, Dodge, or Plymouth of the same vintage should work. Are you still 6 volts? Fluid drive is not a transmission. It is a fluid coupling.

not sure about exact swap but for the same years, the Dodge carried no load RPM of 4300 and Plymouth is 4000 and the Chrysler/Desoto was 4900 therein lies the very stair step of models from the low priced entry to top line vehicle....the book lists many many different model numbers for the starters by make and year of application..

so off to my interchange book which says Plymouth 46-49 and the 47 Dodge carry starter 3316 interchange ID number
