DJ194950 Posted August 23, 2013 Report Posted August 23, 2013 Googling for a fuel pump for your car shows possibilities: Orielly's (spelled wrong i'm sure) Summitracing (truck, take a look at picture). Napa has had some avail. at times check locally. How about a rebuild kit? They are avail. and if you research this forum you can get the names of places to buy them. Some are highly recommended. Best of luck Doug Quote
busycoupe Posted August 23, 2013 Report Posted August 23, 2013 You can try "Then and Now Automotive" in Weymouth, Mass. They sell pumps, rebuild kits for pumps, and will rebuild your pump for you. Dave Quote

Barabbas Posted August 23, 2013 Report Posted August 23, 2013 I'm using a fuel pump from Vintage Power wagons--it's originally designed for the Power Wagon application but it fits on my P23 and has worked fine for 1500 miles. Just make sure you have clearance between the engine and the inner fender because it is a bit wider than the Automobile fuel pump Quote
De Soto Frank Posted August 23, 2013 Report Posted August 23, 2013 Fuel Pump - Airtex was making them last time I checked... # 588, I believe. E-brake Lining - try Andy Bernbaum (under new ownership!) or Roberts MoParts... For Fuel-pump re-builds, Then & Now Automotive in Massachussettes is the place to go - alcohol-resistant guts, top-notch service ! Quote
_shel_ny Posted August 23, 2013 Report Posted August 23, 2013 (edited) Also desperately needing e brake or friction material for same, thanks. Many folks have been pleased with the brake service at Tennessee Brake and Clutch. Seems they are fast and reasonable. Mail yours, they repair, send back. Edit: or a local brake shop should be able to reline. (not a national chain) Edited August 23, 2013 by shel_bizzy_48 Quote
pflaming Posted August 23, 2013 Report Posted August 23, 2013 I rebuilt mine and I have two spares. They are very easy to rebuild. One has to remember that in the 50's owners did NOT think about repair shops first, they repaired things themselves. We can to the same, just got to change our paradigms on service. Good luck on whatever you decide, all advice is right and wrong at the same time. Quote
Young Ed Posted August 23, 2013 Report Posted August 23, 2013 We get brake band material from www.brakeplace.com they are local for us but will do mail order stuff too. You can either buy the materials and DIY or mail them the band and they will reline it for you. Quote
Dan Hiebert Posted August 24, 2013 Report Posted August 24, 2013 I replaced the fuel pump on our '48 D24 @ 20 years ago. Got the new one from Andy Bernbaum, don't recall the manufacturer of the one that was on it when we got it, but it had "issues". Haven't had nary a problem with the replacement, but don't know if AB still carries that item. I know Kanter Auto does, tho, but they've gotten rather proud of their stuff. Quote
IronMike Posted August 24, 2013 Report Posted August 24, 2013 I have two rebuild kits from Then & Now Automotive to rebuild the pump on my car and to have a spare. Tennessee Clutch & Supply is great to deal with and very reasonable. Quote
Don Jordan Posted August 25, 2013 Report Posted August 25, 2013 I know it's not stock but I have had great luck with an electric fuel pump. Easy to install, easy to obtain at most auto part stores. And for what it's worth they are cheaper at an auto parts store than they are on e bay. Quote
