TexasPilothouse Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 So I thought I would go ahead and start a build thread on my 1949 Dodge B-1-B truck. He's named Tater after my dad and is in pretty rough shape but is slowly coming back to life. The truck is getting most of the original items rebuilt but also has a lot of my own taste to it. Here's a few pictures to get started with. I will try to keep y'all updated as the build goes on. For all you northerners (y'all) can also mean you guys and you all! http:// http:// http:// 1

Gizzardsniffer Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 Nice truck, looks like you got a good solid truck to start with which should help alot.Keep posting, enjoy seeing the progress.
B1B Keven Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 Lookin' good Landon. Someone snuck the wrong year front bumper on it!!
JBNeal Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 whut's up with the plate on the frame? extra weight fer improved traction?
MBF Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 I'll bet that is to stiffen up the left frame rail to prevent it from flexing from steering box torque.. I've seen this before. They made an engineering change of the diagonal bracket from the front crossmember to the left frame rail that changed the way the box was mounted. My 49 2.5 ton has the factory brace extending from the box to the right frame rail. In any event-that is a nice solid piece to start with
Apittslife Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 Congrats on the truck. Like others said : Looks like a solid vehical to start out with.
TexasPilothouse Posted July 6, 2013 Author Posted July 6, 2013 whut's up with the plate on the frame? extra weight fer improved traction? This truck at one time had a lift for irrigation engines and pumps mounted in the bed. They are coming off because they are ugly and the welds look like drunk farmer got after it!
TexasPilothouse Posted July 6, 2013 Author Posted July 6, 2013 what you gots against drunk farmers? Haha, nothing at all. My whole family farms and some of them partake in the hooch!
