Turned Drums Not Fitting

Recommended Posts

Are your lower brake hinge point adgustable. I think some work like a cam. they adjust in and out. ???? Are the  hinge pins in backwards??I think the nuts go to the inside. Can you put your new and old brake shoes side by side and see if there is a difference. Twist a coat hanger around your spindle and run it out to the shoes. ( poor boy brake caliper)Check if your brake   shoes are in a circle. ( checck for roundness)

You can putz around for hours trying to figure out what is wrong or just pull off a single shoe and see if it fits the inside circumference of the brake drum. If is does then you have an issue with either adjusters not fully retracted or wrong wheel cylinder pins.

If it doesn't fit then then you have the wrong size shoes. Find a real brake shop and they can grind them to fit the drum or return for the correct sized shoe.
