Starter Pedal Lever Linkage On P14 '42- What The Heck??

First time post- new member!  I'm salvaging a destined rat rod back to a P-14C OEM and can't figure out the linkage on the yoke to the bendix button.  Here's a pic of what was there- that certainly ain't right and offset significantly.  Is the yoke bent?  Anybody out there have a pic or diagram of what it is supposed to be? I'm thinking the 46-48s are about the same hook-up.  Thanks in advance ..

46-48s used an electronic starter button.

I have a spare starter with the mechanical starter button like yours and will try to get a picture of it as soon as posible. Does your old rig have a hole in the dash for push button starter button?

Maybe that right angle piece was added. The piece to the left of it in the picture looks original. Had the PO started the rat rod process? Maybe it's their handiwork.

is this a stock engine or possibly one from an older car?   believe their is a slight starter position difference between the two

It's a stock engine from 7/22/41 stamp and think the starter is original also.  Has foot-petal starter button inside and no push button I could find- although the wiring was all ripped out when I got it.  Parts Manual plate leaves the trail cold by just showing the lever and an empty eyelet.  I think this was a jerry rig and no telling when it last started but would say 10-20 years +.   Pic would be great- this car is the mother of all jigsaw puzzles.

Here is a picture of the linkage from my 1941 service manual. The spring loaded foot pedal/plunger in the floor, when stepped on, hits the "starter motor yoke" that manually engages the starter. Thanks Jim, I kind of see where that spring goes on the shaft also that I got on e-bay the other week.  I guess it catches somewhere.  The shapes of the yokes are a little different but I think I can get the idea.  Appreciate the time you took to help.  -Brandon

I had a hard time getting good pictures, but the first one shows things pretty well.  I put a red dot on the part that pushes the button.  There are two matching vertical pieces that are secured with cotter pins.  On yours, it looks like the bottom of the one on the left is not attached properly.
