Lakermatt Posted January 19, 2013 Report Posted January 19, 2013 Hey everyone!! Haven't been on this site for a while!! Sold my cranbrook and haven't been messin with the plymouths for a while. Bought a 50 Chevy deluxe and have been playing with that lately!! But..... I just picked up a 54 Plymouth wagon (suburban) for 800 bucks and I am back in with the MOPAR!! All original, and intact. Got it home and noticed another transmission laying in a box in the back. Low and behold, it was an overdrive! I guess they were planning on changing out the original one that is in there and putting this bad boy in. My only problem with the car is I will need new front fenders, as the original ones are a little rough. Also the middle cross bar that the grill stainless is mounted to. So I will be looking for that... This little GEM is screaming SURF WAGON!!!, so I think that is my motivation at this point.. I will post pictures of her soon.. Quote
Frank Elder Posted January 19, 2013 Report Posted January 19, 2013 Welcome back here and to Ma Mopar! Quote
53_Suburban Posted January 19, 2013 Report Posted January 19, 2013 Welcome back. I've had my '53 Suburban since 1976 and am still lovin' it. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted January 19, 2013 Report Posted January 19, 2013 Well.......that's interesting news. Given the price the R10 overdrives are selling for now......a real deal. If no wiring or things with it, there are various systems to activate it once installed. Oft times the old ODs really don't need any repair, many people have simply installed them and they seem to work fine. And you don't have to change the driveshaft or anything.....it just fits in. (I'm assuming your trans is still 3 on the tree). Welcome back. Quote
greg g Posted January 19, 2013 Report Posted January 19, 2013 (edited) So you bought a OD trans that came with an extra car???? Edited January 19, 2013 by greg g Quote
austinsailor Posted January 19, 2013 Report Posted January 19, 2013 I bought one a couple years ago off craigslist for $300, like new, had a floor shift conversion on it. It was in the back seat of a 54 Chrysler the guy bought. He didn't want it. Quote
