Can any of you shed light on this. I was always under the impression that they were the same but just called it "218" and rounded it off to nearest CI. greg g Posted November 4, 2006 Report Share Posted November 4, 2006 well the short block (US) version of the "218" comes from a bore of 3 1/4 inches and a stroke of 4 3/8 inches, equalling 217.8 cubic inches. So which would change to yield a difference of 2/10 of an inch divided by 6??? Can any of you Canadian friends, post the Bore and stroke measurments from the long block 218???? RobertKB Posted November 4, 2006 Report Share Posted November 4, 2006 All Canadian P 15 Plymouths had the long block 218. Dimensions are 3 3/8 Bore and 4 1/16 stroke for a 218.06 CID. This particular displacement was used by Plymouth from 1940 through to some 1953's. In the long blocks, used from 1938 in all Canadian made Chrysler products, we also had 201, 228, 242, 251, and 265 CID's depending on what car it was in. Hope this helps. IanT_Qld Posted November 4, 2006 Report Share Posted November 4, 2006 Yep - my canadian export DG108 1/2 tonne right hand drive has the 25 inch block and the internal dimentions that RobertKB stated. 3 3/8 by 4 1/16. Does this mean that the long block will rev higher? and the short block have more torque? my VIN card has the max power and torque figures stamped on it but I cant remeber them!
