HanksB3B Posted May 15, 2012 Report Posted May 15, 2012 Someone from Minnesota has a bunch of stuff for sale. This is the correct dome light and looks to be complete. Hank Quote
pflaming Posted May 15, 2012 Report Posted May 15, 2012 (edited) Mine has this interior light, possiby before the one on e-bay. Maybe the e-bay light was for the custom cab. I prefer mine, to me it's somewhat older in style. Edited August 30, 2018 by pflaming Quote

Desotodav Posted May 15, 2012 Report Posted May 15, 2012 Your interior light looks very similar to this photo that I snapped of a 48 Dodge truck here in Oz Paul. The truck here that had this light fitted was very original. Desotodav Quote
pflaming Posted May 16, 2012 Report Posted May 16, 2012 My dome light has a mount that is electronically welded to the top of the cab so I'm quite certain that it is a factory light. Makes no difference to me, I like it, I just wish it was brighter. Quote
Frank Elder Posted May 16, 2012 Report Posted May 16, 2012 Put an extra thick ground wire up there with a star washer connection to bare metal, that will brighten it up. Quote

Check out http://www.taillightking.com/ 39095Brake, Turn, BackupHalogen 1156 style bulb, Single Element - 1 Contact Bayonet 50 watt, 6 Volts, Straight Pins, Super Bright (use as brake/turn lights) (In Stock) 50 watts should be bright enough. I know the parts book only lists the one at the back of the cab but parts books have been known to have errors and omissions. Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted May 16, 2012 Report Posted May 16, 2012 (edited) That welded bracket is used to hold the center of the headliner up with a single phillips head screw and recessed washer on B3 and B4 Trucks. Two spaced brackets on B1 and B2 Trucks. The dome light mounts to the rear-at least here in the US. Thats the only way I have ever seen them. Bob Edited May 16, 2012 by Dodgeb4ya Quote
Dave72dt Posted May 16, 2012 Report Posted May 16, 2012 That was my other thought on the bracket. It's been so long since I took it apart I don't remember if it even had a headliner in it at the time. Quote
ggdad1951 Posted May 16, 2012 Report Posted May 16, 2012 yah, someone is parting out a 51 or 52 in Albert Lea MN, sadly it looks like it would have been a good project truck for someone, now it s parts that are overpriced. Quote
Bobacuda Posted May 16, 2012 Report Posted May 16, 2012 The interior light teh guy has for sale is the same as the one that came with my B-4-B. The metal housing that holds the bulb clamps to the headliner. The glass part has a metal surround with the switch on the side. I have an spare glass and surround that the original owner of my truck kept in the glove compartment. Quote

I have only seen the lights mounted to the back of the cab. Quote
HanksB3B Posted May 16, 2012 Author Report Posted May 16, 2012 I'll have to agree. I have only seen the lights mounted to the back of the cab. Reg is correct (if he doesn't know, then no one does). I agree with ggdad on the pricing and the whole parting out on ePay concept, but what I'm trying to say is that these lights are correct and $40 is an o.k. price based on supply/demand. Hank P.S. I prefer mine, to me it's somewhat older in style. My 53' has the rear light (got from orig owner son-in law), and the 54' has the center mounted(got from org owner daughter). Wiring ran same way for both, but the overhead light had an extention, poss dealer install?? Both families said nothing had changed for either truck that they could remember, BUT, the 53' had a 57' 230 IND engine, and the 54' has a 55' Windsor 301 poly in it, so take what the families said with a grain of salt.
