That is why he is a rodder, and you are a restorer......neither one of you are right, just of a different bent.

Well said! I do applaud those who can make modifications/upgrades that get the job done as well as those who can return things to there original condition.

I did not modify my OD and can not understand why someone would hack up a well designed system when parts are available to repair it correctly.[/quote

I too cannot understand Major changes to a great OD system, But i do love a change to the electrical operation that can be done for less than $50 by adding a push button switch at arms reach replacing a kickdown switch and utilizing a LOCKING type of relay to keep the OD either in or out without use of the cable.

I have made the electrical change in my daily driven 50 ply. 4dr. and forget the cable -period, as it's always in.

I have a switch to bypass the govenor to ground and a light to tell when the OD is on which i now also leave in the on position. But with the button added to the shifter (search recent posts on overdrives) i just shift normally then push button to go into OD, let off gas to engage. Push button again, let off gas, push down on gas aqain to disengage OD.

OD will not engage or disengage until gas is let up, regardless of wether is is on or off!

There is a LOT of info on the OD's if it's searched
