old rat 49
After seeing what bump stop revulcanizing costs I decided there had to be a cheaper way. Autozon Control Arm Bumper #14205 costs $3.98 ea X 2 for a total cost of $7.96 plus tax verses $70.00+. They are the correct height and diameter using what info I could find. I removed all traces of old rubber from bracket and drilled and tapped a hole to match threaded stud on new bumper. I then cut stud down to about 1/8 inch and screwed it in tight and gave a quick spot weld to keep it in place. This should work quite well. Will post completed picturein a few days I install F1 brackets and shocks. Please note that last picture stop has not been screwed in all the way or welded yet. roadworthy
That's a great tip, and one I am definitely doing! Thanks!
old rat 49
Thanks. I work on almost a zero budget and try to find "non Collectable" items such as 1 gage battery cables, coil, voltage regulator at Tractor supply and such. Trying to identify the lower stop also. old rat 49
Got the lower arm bumpers at O'Reilly number 31052 @ 6.93 each. Most any Chrysler product up to the late 70's seem to use it.
