49 got vandalized .

Had it insured through State Farm with full coverage and they denied my claim. Even with before picts and previous owner testimony they wont fix a thing. Been with them 32 years...not anymore!. So now my resto got put back even farther.

I'll assume they had an explanation for the denial. I'd hope your agent went to bat for you. Maybe they considered the value of the truck lower than the deductible. It's a shame regardless. Maybe all of us should use this as a "what if" to our carriers and find out what they will or will not do.

Well nobody went to bat for me, had to call them 6 times to get a response. Looks like full coverage dont mean squat!...beware !.

There explanation was they thought I was lying, and its all old damage.

I have filed a complaint with a consumer group, you can read it here if you want?.

a letter to your state insureance comissioner may be a better move..and asl how you seeem not to have any coverage..maybe they ought to have to refund all your preminums...yes I think I say a pig fly over today..

I dropped State Farm on my classic...even with stated value...and no claims..a discussion with my agent left me very uneasy..

That just sucks!

My Insurance agent is in my parents T-Bird club & he came out the day I got my truck & took a lot of pictures, there is plenty of evidence of what my truck looks like in my file.

Let this be a warning make your agent take pics of your truck &put it in your file, save your self some heartache!

I have been in the insurance business for over 35 years. I never insure a classic vehicle on an insured's daily driver policy unless it is driven as a daily driver. Even then most of the time you can only insure it to ACV (actual cash value) in other words it's just another old truck. Most regular insurers do not have the underwriting experence to cover these vehicles correctly. Let this be a lesson to everyone in the club. If you have your truck on the same policy as your daily driver call your agent and see if they carry an insurance company that specializes in classic vehicles. If they don't check on line, there are plenty of them. Review the restrictions carefully, they very from company to company. You will need to submit pictures. I take the pictures of my customer's vehicles myself and I take a lot of them. I have never had a problem with a claim. These companies know that there is much more to our paint work, suspension mods...etc than the vehicle we drive to work everyday. They also know that we baby our vehicles much more that our daily drivers too. Do yourselves a favor and get your classic vehicle insured with a classis car insurance company with agreed value coverage. The key to this type of policy is that all of the underwriting work is done before there is a claim not after the claim. Both you and the insurance company come to an agreement so if and when you have a claim most of the work is already complete. You will not be sorry.
