4 speed in place of three on tree?

Recommended Posts

was wondering if anyone has ever used a 4 speed floor shift tranny to replace a three speed column shift set up?

I have a 4 speed from a '52 B2B and I might want to install this into my '50 suburban...Anyone know if this might fit without too many mods?

Would the top speed rpm be dropped if this were to be done, like an overdrive?

Thanks

Nope the 4spds are still 1:1 in top gear. All it gets you is a stump pulling first gear. And lots more of the 4spds aren't syncro. It would also be quite a bit of work to swap it into a car.
