Maybe that is true of trucks as well. Quote
Merle Coggins Posted May 5, 2011 Report Posted May 5, 2011 Yup, very well could be the engine number on your title. However, if the engine was replaced some time along the way it'll now be different. Good luck. They didn't use VIN's, as we now know them, back then, just serial numbers. Merle Quote
Fluid drive Posted May 5, 2011 Report Posted May 5, 2011 Art: That serial number ---oops! showing my age, I mean VIN number--- was usually stamped on the frame too. In the 1930's cars it was located on the left frame rail close to where the gas fill tube went into the tank. Back then it was the engine number that served to be the actual vehicle ID number. So many things were not changed after the war until the '50's so your truck may have that number stamped on the frame somewhere too. Fluid Drive Quote
Joe Flanagan Posted May 5, 2011 Report Posted May 5, 2011 Art, you have the best screen name on the forum, hands down. Quote

Merle Coggins Posted May 9, 2011 Report Posted May 9, 2011 Pilot-House trucks have the serial # stamped into the left frame rail near the front axle, slightly behind the front spring mount. Merle Quote
