Allan Faust Posted October 30, 2006 Report Posted October 30, 2006 Hi, Would anyone here have a spare flange for a big block flathead (desoto, chrysler) that they want to get rid of? (Or know where I can get one?) I want to try my hand at building my own split manifold, and would need the flange to get started... Allan Quote
John Burke Posted October 30, 2006 Report Posted October 30, 2006 Allen, are you refering to the intake or exhaust manifold?..I have a couple of each...I would have to take them off my parts motors....John Burke Quote
Allan Faust Posted October 30, 2006 Author Report Posted October 30, 2006 John, I'm referring to the exhaust.... I'll probably have my intake split by someone who knows what he's doing.... but the exhaust I figure I can handle myself...... Allan Quote
bob westphal Posted October 30, 2006 Report Posted October 30, 2006 When I split my manifold I bought a 2" ID flange from NAPA and brazed it and a piece of 2" pipe to the manifold Quote
oldfatman Posted October 30, 2006 Report Posted October 30, 2006 Bob; Is that a true split or just a second port? Is there some kind of baffle between the front 3 and rear 3 cylinders? Quote
Allan Faust Posted October 31, 2006 Author Report Posted October 31, 2006 Bob, Actually, what I'm looking to do is more like what pete and another person did... but I need a spare exhaust flange to do it... I want to use the flange, along with steel tubing to build my own split manifold... Allan Quote
55 Fargo Posted October 31, 2006 Report Posted October 31, 2006 Allan, I can get you the entire intake and exhaust manifolds from a 1950 Plodge near where I live. In fact it's off the car already, the owner was asking $100.00, I am sure I could get it for $75. My parts car had the intake and exhaust manifolds removed a month or so before I picked it up, in fact the person who did this forgot to remove the 13th nut and proceeded to use a big prybar and broke the manifolds. Then he didn't send it along with the parts car, you could have had these for free. I am not too happy with this guy right now as I found a few more negative surprises once I got my parts car home. So I won't be taliking to him real soon if you know what I mean...........The Rock Quote
Allan Faust Posted October 31, 2006 Author Report Posted October 31, 2006 Fred, Thanx for the offer, but I don't need the entire intake or exhaust, I just need the flanges on the engine side.... and $75 for a "test" is not what I was expecting to pay.... Allan Quote
