BeBop138 Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 Thoughts on making a stationary generator from my 265. I have heard of many uses for our engines and generators were one application. Are there any pics of these or contacts out there on making one. Maybe some of these gens are still in use?...................Lee Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted November 26, 2010 Report Posted November 26, 2010 Thats a waste for a 265. Use a 251! Quote

As many 3/4 ton trucks with Chrysler flat 6's in them that the US military bought and used from WW-2 right up into the 70's,you know some of those engines found their way into generators. Not to mention things like pumps. Search around for some WW-2 re-enactment web sites and ask those guys. Some of them are bound to have photos and detailed information. Quote
PatS.... Posted November 26, 2010 Report Posted November 26, 2010 (edited) I've seen flatties and hemi's in both welders and air raid sirens. They were used for every kind of stationery power there was. Would make a great generator engine. (motor?) Here's a 1910 version of a "portable" compressor. http://www.shorpy.com/node/9403?size=_original Edited November 26, 2010 by PatS.... Quote
