Reg Evans Posted November 19, 2010 Report Posted November 19, 2010 I have three sun visors here and all are missing the mounting hardware. Anybody know what the parts look like to attach one of these to the drip rails or better yet....have the parts available ? I want to install one of these on Elbert.....my 49 Suburban. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted November 19, 2010 Report Posted November 19, 2010 Here's a pic of a Fulton visor.......end support. Of course, I don't know if any of yours are Fultons....just looking for pictures as information. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted November 19, 2010 Report Posted November 19, 2010 Here's a link to an article on visors done by the late Norm's Coupe...... Has some pictures of the various parts. http://www.indfloorcoating-repair.com/fultonsunshield.htm Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted November 19, 2010 Report Posted November 19, 2010 (edited) Another style clip.......scroll down about 5 pics. http://53truck.ez15loan.com/howto/accessories02.htm Bob's Classic Auto Glass is reproducing visors.....might have some parts one could purchase..........http://bobsclassicautoglass.com/visors.html Edited November 19, 2010 by BobT-47P15 Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted November 19, 2010 Report Posted November 19, 2010 (edited) Another example. May likely be more stuff........just google it. Edited November 19, 2010 by BobT-47P15 Quote
Reg Evans Posted November 19, 2010 Author Report Posted November 19, 2010 Thanks Bob ! None of the 3 of mine are Fultons though with the dog bone mounting method. They take some other type of MYSTERY mounting hardware. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted November 19, 2010 Report Posted November 19, 2010 I think the end clips did one of two things. They were either two piece and sandwiched the drip rail. Or they were one piece and attached with a couple screws. Quote
Reg Evans Posted November 19, 2010 Author Report Posted November 19, 2010 Thanks Bob. Anyone here have a visor other than Fulton they could post a photo of ? Quote
busycoupe Posted November 19, 2010 Report Posted November 19, 2010 Here is the visor on my D24. It is an aftermarket visor. It is labelled CASCO, Bridgeport, CT on the side clamps. The lower, silver painted part of the clamp, is two piece and clamps onto the drip edge. The chrome part clamps the visor to the drip edge clamp. The arc gives a small amount of adjustment. The center clamp has two pieces that clamp onto the windshield center strip and one piece attached to the visor. Interestingly, I did a quick search for Casco. The company is still in existence. Casco stands for Connecticut Automotive Supply Co. They now make electrical components for the auto industry. Quote
Reg Evans Posted November 19, 2010 Author Report Posted November 19, 2010 (edited) Thanks Busycoupe, I do have a left and right part similar to the part on your visor that attaches to the drip rail. I guess I'm missing the other parts for each side. Guess I'll have to make something unless by some miracle someone here has the parts. Edited November 19, 2010 by Reg Evans Quote
Andydodge Posted November 20, 2010 Report Posted November 20, 2010 Reg, have attached a close up pic of the made up centre mount for the Fulton visor I have, its made from stainless steel and clamps around the centre divider and was done to increase the strength of the centre clamp, the one the visor came with was the same that BobT posted a pic of.......... the outer clamps are the standard ones that came with the visor and have a circular adjustable piece that allows the angle of the visor to be moved up/down, it then fits around/over the roof gutter and between the door opening and door and is screwed into the upper door jam, unfortunately I don't have a closeup pic but can get one if you do need it..........andyd Quote
55 Fargo Posted November 20, 2010 Report Posted November 20, 2010 (edited) Reg, I have some parts for this type of Fulton Visor, I would gladly trade them for a center bracket for the Fulton Visor in Bob Ts pic. I can post pics of what I have or email them to you if your interested.......Fred Edited November 20, 2010 by Rockwood Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted November 20, 2010 Report Posted November 20, 2010 Reg..this appears to be the original Mopar style visor..these are held on by a set of inner and outer clips on the gutter rails..the outer lips go between the gutter and door opening ("L" shaped) and the inner piece was a tad smaller foot l that is slightly offset hole to the outer..when mounted to the visor and inserted into the gutter (inside of visor) and the outer cupping the outer gutter rail..when tightened they pinch down and clamp really tightly..surprised me..I do not have a super close up but here are the ones on my 49 Plymouth...you can blow it up to almost 200% and maybe see what I am talking about.. these gutter clips would be easy to make..mine were stainless steel...and using stainless hardware..looked right at home..
