aero3113 Posted November 14, 2010 Report Posted November 14, 2010 I may be dreaming but I think I remember seeing a old Chrysler video with this double sided car in it???? I did a google search and did not find any info. Quote
Uncle-Pekka Posted November 14, 2010 Report Posted November 14, 2010 Good greif!!!! Airflow... of all cars - WHY? Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted November 14, 2010 Report Posted November 14, 2010 when this was done it was just another dime a dozen vehicle.... Quote
Gary Manes Posted November 14, 2010 Report Posted November 14, 2010 The Chrysler in front looks solid, and could very well have some valuable parts for the right person. One two door sold on e-bay a few years ago at a very good price, but needed a few things. It was a very handsome coupe for an air-flo. I had just gotten married, or it would be sitting outside right now. It was also unusual because of the body builder. No one was able to find, on short notice, that anyone other than the usual suppliers had built them. I know Budd made some, if not all, of the Dodges, but These were all suppose to have been built in-house. This one was made by a long gone body builder. Restored it will be a very rare model. If the buyer was like me, I have a Chrysler and a Desoto (down-sizing). I had five at one time. He might be able to use it coming or going. Quote
JerseyHarold Posted November 14, 2010 Report Posted November 14, 2010 There was a museum in South Dakota that built a double-ended '51 Plymouth in the sixties. I saw this car in person, and the owner of the museum told me the Highway Patrol ruled it off the road because it was confusing to other drivers. Quote
Rodney Bullock Posted November 14, 2010 Report Posted November 14, 2010 Now that is just wrong from so many angles;) What a waste of a nice body style. I know folks that want that car so bad it hurts. Quote
JIPJOBXX Posted November 14, 2010 Report Posted November 14, 2010 Oh well someone had fun! My brother and I sawed the roof oft of three cars back when were young and today people would kill for them. Two were 33 ford two sedans and one was a 38 Packard sedan!!! That Packard probably today would be worth way over 50,000 dollars! Oh well life was fun back then! http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.swopemuseum.com/images/VehicleImage41.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.swopemuseum.com/collection.asp%3FCarID%3D41&h=263&w=400&sz=30&tbnid=qbZmeO4r6p_KeM:&tbnh=82&tbnw=124&prev=/images%3Fq%3D1938%2Bpackard&zoom=1&q=1938+packard&usg=__VMLid0BVWYMzJYAtoi19hov6BvY=&sa=X&ei=HDTgTPOHIYaglAfKmNGABA&ved=0CCEQ9QEwAQ Quote

I have a picture of it somewhere. Same little museum has a tucker also. Quote

Ed, Do you recall the name of the museum? It was near Rapid City, SD. The reason I'm asking is that there is a Tucker thread I'm following on the AACA website and one of the guys is a major Tucker historian, so he might be interested in the car. He even told me what became of a Tucker i saw at a small museum in NY in the 1960's! Harold Quote

thrashingcows Posted November 15, 2010 Report Posted November 15, 2010 Personally I've never been much of a fan of the Airflow Chrysler's. I know they were ahead of there time in styling and safety...but still they do very little for me. Quote
Uncle-Pekka Posted November 15, 2010 Report Posted November 15, 2010 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HxItEtEeFxE This "Red Green" do-it-yourself-hillibillie episode is the best laugh ever. Also harmless fun when he does it out of K-cars (what else would work this good?) Some poor bugger in 2051 will yet still cry over those wasted halves... Just as I do now due those TWO Airflows... RobertKB Posted November 15, 2010 Report Posted November 15, 2010 Just wrong...sorry KB. Chrysler or DeSoto? Not to worry. Appreciate the thought though. Done as mentioned when these were just another old car. Lots of good pieces as it has now become a parts car. It will help other projects live on. Quote
