Plymouthy Adams Posted June 10, 2012 Report Posted June 10, 2012 in part... i would like to have a bigger shop one day..but doing a big slab is going to cost a lot...plus once the county finds out if you got a slab in your building it's now "permanent" and your property taxes go up: I guess that is true everywhere..when I built my pole barn for storing my cars I did get a permit from the county..along with that you get a visit from the county agent..now the permit is nothing but a means to add the value to your tax base. But, any concrete flooring removes my building from agriculture/farm use and hits a much higher tax base...even knowing the poles are cemented into mother earth..I would loved to have my barn's floor in concrete with moisture barrier..I did trench the foundation and put a rubber anti-leeching membrane about the perimeter as i built and added onto later....as I never work in the building I guess dirt will be ample..
