Olddaddy Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 (edited) In addition to my Plymouth disc brake kits, I have produced a disc brake kit that will fit Dodge cars from mid 40s thru late 50s. The kit shares all the same parts as my Plymouth kits, but with a modified caliper bracket for the bigger dodge spindle. Like the Plymouth kits it is a bolt-on with the exception of drilling and tapping the three mounting holes, and drilling out the two steering arm holes on each side of the front end. No machine work is necessary to the spindle or bearing surfaces. NOTE: I will have kits available for Chrysler and DeSoto cars in a few more weeks. I would like to locate a spindle from one or both brands to confirm final measurements before cutting the modified caliper brackets. If you have either one of these cars and are interested in disc brakes, pm or email me directly at olddaddy@rustyhope.com. All of my kits will now sell for $175 including shipping to lower 48 US addresses, and $205 to Canadian addresses. I will ship worldwide, contact me for shipping prices to other countries. Go to www.rustyhope.com for more info. Edited October 14, 2010 by Olddaddy Grammar Quote
Dennis_MN Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 Charlie, see if that upper grease zirc can be changed to a 45 degree unit. That straight zirc doesn't look to be reachable with a grease gun. I had a similar problem with the upper zirc on my pickup and I was able to swap a 45 degree zirc there. Dennis Quote
Olddaddy Posted October 14, 2010 Author Report Posted October 14, 2010 I have added that information to my instructions, good advice Dennis! Quote
Frank Elder Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 Good job Charlie...so how are the desoto/chrysler spindles different bigger, beefier...would there limo models? I always thought most dodge and desoto components interchanged..... Quote
Olddaddy Posted October 14, 2010 Author Report Posted October 14, 2010 The main difference in the car spindles is that the position of the upper hole for mounting the original brake backing plate is farther away from the centerline of the spindle. I will post a picture of all three spindles, Plymouth, Dodge, and Chrysler/DeSoto when I have them completed. I would need to see a Limousine spindle to know if I can do anything with it, but I would be interested in one if you have any. Quote
MarkAubuchon Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 What about a dodge 1/2 ton pickup? Quote
