baldbusdriver Posted August 28, 2010 Report Posted August 28, 2010 so what do you guys think? should I go ahead and replace my motor mounts? anyone ever see them go flat like that? from the look and feel I think they are original to the car straight from the factory. Im thinking about trying my hand at making some out of poly and see how it goes. anyone know of a source for a few small blocks of poly? Quote
Andydodge Posted August 28, 2010 Report Posted August 28, 2010 Thats how they go after 40-50 yrs, they are easily obtainable and worthwhile replacing tho' you may have to readjust your gearshift linkages..........andyd Quote

They are composed of rubber for a reason, and that is to stop the engines vibrations from transferring to the frame.....if you use "solid" motor mounts, you won't like it. Quote
PatS.... Posted August 28, 2010 Report Posted August 28, 2010 Nuthin wrong with those!!! I have a new set, 4 pcs, PM me your address and you can have them. Quote
baldbusdriver Posted August 29, 2010 Author Report Posted August 29, 2010 I know that the mounts are made of rubber and can be rebuilt or bought new, I was just thinking about the polyurethane as an experiment to see how they feel on vibrations. if favorable then there is a new option that wont degrade like rubber. if not so good the can always use tried and true parts. BobT-47P15 Posted August 29, 2010 Report Posted August 29, 2010 Well, then why not give it a try and see how they work...... Report at a future date how they do. Quote
