faucet47custom Posted August 27, 2010 Report Posted August 27, 2010 Tim Adams has done a Dakota Clip swap on his Plymouth Suburban. Very good install and he has had to move some stuff around. It would be a good idea to shoot him a message. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted August 27, 2010 Report Posted August 27, 2010 For sure needs good welding and bracing....... There should be some previous threads with pictures over on the H.A.M.B. website.......if you haven't already checked there. Those fellows have done a lot of this type thing. Quote
65rbdodge Posted August 28, 2010 Author Report Posted August 28, 2010 Why?? cost. i would guess it will cost quite a bit to rebuild the OE desoto brakes/suspension, still have a 63 year old deisgn and have a difficult time finding the parts. it cost me $150 for the dakota front clip/steering column probably another $200 to rebuild the entire brake/suspension and i can go to any auto parts store and get the parts i need. i do all my own work so labor cost me nothing. Olddaddy Posted August 28, 2010 Report Posted August 28, 2010 Well, if you scrap the old DeSoto front clip I could use one or both of the front spindles. People keep asking me to convert them to disc brakes and although I am pretty sure it can't be done with my type caliper brackets I'm thinking about giving it another try. Send me a pm or email me at olddaddy@rustyhope.com. Charlie. Quote
