Cpt.Fred Posted June 29, 2010 Report Posted June 29, 2010 a friend sent me some nice shots from last weekend. rusty and slow, but that's no reason to hide, is it? lining up: that stude pipped me by a few inches only... now this one wasn't my class at all, fast little weasel: my friend's GAZ beating a ford flattie... harhar, the man was furious! i must say, i think i infected with the racing virus. let's see, what can i sell first to get some speed parts and a bigger engine? Don Coatney Posted June 29, 2010 Report Posted June 29, 2010 Great photos. Thanks for posting. What is a GAZ? Any more photos? Quote
Cpt.Fred Posted June 29, 2010 Author Report Posted June 29, 2010 (edited) thanks, don, you're welcome! a GAZ is a russian car brand, this one'sa "pobieda", which means "victory" my friend heavily modified it and put a flat six from a russian tank in it. i posted pics of it a few weeks ago, you find them here: http://www430.pair.com/p15d24/mopar_forum/showthread.php?t=21672&highlight=pobieda i really like the car, it's one of a kind and nobody ever knows what exactly it is, so it's a lot of fun to watch the people examine it in the street... edit: oh, i see you were faster:) in this video skip to 4:40, you can see both cars starting after one another. fun, hehehe. Cpt.Fred Posted June 30, 2010 Author Report Posted June 30, 2010 (edited) just don't blow the engine you know, since pete blueskies is posting certain unreasonable videos here, i thought maybe i should do that exact thing:D seriously, i promise i'll be careful with the original motor. i'm saving money for bigger one right now, when it's time i'll post here that i'm looking for one. i just have to figure out which one. Die Startermädchen waren wirklich ganz niedlich, stimmt. Vielen Danke für eure Komplimente! Gebt mir noch ein oder zwei Jahre, dann sprecht ihr alle prima Deutsch! hihi... Uncle-Pekka Posted June 30, 2010 Report Posted June 30, 2010 Hallo Herr Kapitän Fred! Great pictures, great video - must have been big time fun race party. The Popeda (not spelled Popieda), is certainly a wild thing. Has your friend chopped the roof among other modifications? Originally GAZ Popeda sits high as an off-road vehicle. Alone the dropping of the body and axels has made a major difference in the car appearance. The bosy features are recognable, but when sitting that low it does nor look like a Popeda. Cool job. Along with the flat head six it is like an odd american car (compared to European styling of that era) Keep having fun! MfG., Pekka Quote
Cpt.Fred Posted June 30, 2010 Author Report Posted June 30, 2010 dear uncle, of course you're right on the spelling... wait till my buddy sees this, i'm in big trouble! glad you like it, i'm really proud of him. see the full lenght story here: http://stabil-berlin.de/pobeda/ greetings! fred Quote
Uncle-Pekka Posted July 2, 2010 Report Posted July 2, 2010 S.g. Kapitän, Very Impressive, indeed! (* Tell my warm regards to your friend, he must be a gentleman and a wizard to create such a stylish and inspired kustom out of Soviet product. The M20 is actually so true to old school kustom, that it is almost beyond the real thing. I mean in a good way. That is without a doubt most american Popeda in the universe and it is build by a german! I am so inspired, that I would try to find me a Popeda of my own if I only knew how to beat sheet metal (what I do not). Keep on the Good Gospel! Cheers, Unkka-Pekka P.S. *) It will take me a couple of weeks to read through all of your friends web-pages by my high school german, but I promise to do it... ...before Xmas. Quote
