Hi all, I was given a Fulton Visor from a friend a couple years ago, I am thinking about reparing it and painting it and then want to installl it onto my 47 Chrysler.

This visor had 49-50 ford marked on it in felt pen, most likely what it last came off of, they are universal aren't they.

This visor is in good shape, but is missing the round piece that attaches to the mount bracket one 1 side, the chrome extension arm is held tight to the bracket with this piece.

There is no center bracket, as maybe with a 49 or 50 Ford has a 1 piece windshield.

I need to know if this might fit on my 47 Chrysler, would anyone have any info or knowledge on these visors?

I also need to locate at least 1 small round part for it.

I will post detailed pics to follow..........Thanx all Fred

go to Norms old website and get the Fulton data from there...some of the mount brackets are model specific though I think there are but just a few of these and amoung this small number one will fit the curve of the a-post..you will need a center bracket to prevent flip-up at speed..Norm had this fproblem with this one time and removed the visor all together..my original 49 Plymouth visor had two center braces...

the Ford unit should be wide enough to mimic the stock Mopar clip system to the gutter rail once you cut the contour on the visor edges...I have done this with a Ford visor of the vintage you have to fit a 51/52 Plmouth which is quite wide in itself..

Fred, here is a photo of my Fulton sunvisor that I have on the Plymouth.

This is an older photo, I can take more recent ones if you would like.

If there is no center bar, then it wouldn't be for a '49-51 Ford as they had two piece windshields also.

They are made out of aluminum, so have to be primed with paint that is compatible so that the color you paint it adheres ok. Keep the underneath a dull color to help reflect the sun.

Hope this helps, I know that I like the looks of my coupe with the Fulton sunvisor,

Bob

Thanx Tim, I was having a look over there just before your post.

I do need the center bar, might not be the easiest thing to find.

Thanx for the pics Bob, they explain a lot to me, especially regarding the center bar/bracket, which I do not have..........Fred

Fred, my Fulton visor has a different side mounting setup to that used by Bob, this visor came from a guy on the Forum, whose name escapes me, it was on a 48 Plymouth so fitted my 41 o/k. It was missing one of the two thin steel center brackets and as i was mindful of the tendency of these things to flip up a mate & me made up the stainless steel 2 piece centre bracket from about 18 gauge stainless. There used to also be an extra adjusing bracket that the 2 original centre arms fitted onto that then attached to the visor......I deleted that as we made the new bracket to attach straight onto the visor........anyway hope this makes sense.......andyd

I have this "Peckat" style visor that has end brackets that are split and unusable from not having the center bracket installed.

The two main visor panels and the center strip which will accommodate the center bracket are still fine.

If you need these two panels and the center strip to cobble a usable visor, you are more than welcome to them.

This is the style of visor I have. The ends are split and no good, though

Here are 3 pics of my Fulton Visor, I need a part for the 1 side, a round bracket piece that holds the swing out adjustment arm in place.

I also do not have the center support bracket, not sure what do with that.

Mine is identical to 40 Plymouth Bob and Coopers car.

Pat, not sure I would need those items, if I do, then would certainly appreciate the gesture................Fred

According to Fulton Application Guide I need a Model #700, for a 47 Chrysler, this is the same model as a 40 Plymouth, so most likely mine will work on my car, just a need a few parts, and a paint job, and she should be a go.......Fred

Fred, if its the chromed round "button" that you need the one on my Fulton visor is 2&1/16th" in diameter with a small "tang" to locate it into the frame......I don't have a spare but these might have been the same size on various fulton visors........for the centre bracket that your missing you could make up something out of 90degree angle aluminium strip...... maybe......whatever you use I wouldn't use the original style attaching brackets unless I had to, they just seem to weak & flimsy to me, that stainless bracket we made will pull the front windows out before it lets go.........lol.........tho' I still head away from semi trailers coming the opposite way as I don't want to give them the chance of blowing the visor off........lol.........andyd
