jp1valdez Posted April 28, 2010 Report Posted April 28, 2010 I just bought an 801 Mopar radio. Will this fit my 1947 D24? If so, can i get some help on how to hook it up? Im a little confused because it comes with only two wires and i am wondering what they are for? Where does the speaker wires go to? Quote
TJM70's_48 Posted May 18, 2010 Report Posted May 18, 2010 Has the radio been electronically rebuilt? There's a 99% chance it won't work otherwise. I don't know if it will fit your car or not, but, I should be able to help you hook it up. Did you get the speaker too? It is possible to hook up a modern speaker, but, it's an obsolete size so an old speaker & mounting bracket will make your life a little easier. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted May 18, 2010 Report Posted May 18, 2010 Here's the Mopar 802 radio.......the 801 should look like it, but have a couple less pushbuttons and one or two tubes less inside, I think. They fit many of the 40s models of all Chrysler products. Quote
jp1valdez Posted June 14, 2010 Author Report Posted June 14, 2010 The radio has been tested and works according to the seller. I do not have the original speaker. That is why i do not know how to hook up the radio to a modern speaker. Quote
Frank Elder Posted June 20, 2010 Report Posted June 20, 2010 You must have the 802 with the curved face plate to properly fit the d-24 dash...I bought a p-15 model and it "fits" the hole but not the curvature of the dash, someday I'll get the right one. Quote
bach4660 Posted June 23, 2010 Report Posted June 23, 2010 there is a .pdf at the dpetca site. I think there should be three wires, one for 6 volt negative (as radio chassis is hot ground) and two for the speaker, but one is technically the shielding. Quote
insaneradio Posted June 24, 2010 Report Posted June 24, 2010 (edited) Good Evening. After studying the schematic I find this set operates the field coil to the original speaker from the 6 volt supply to the set. This is a BIG plus for the new permanent magnet speaker option. We will not utilize this brown wire going to your plug just the blue and the braided wire. Simply connect the Blue wire to one terminal on your speaker and the braided wire to the other terminal on your speaker and tell me what you think!! Keep in mind this is set up for a 4 ohm impedance speaker. I am presently experimenting with this and have been pleased thus far. I prefer the original speaker but sometimes it is not an option.
