Joe Flanagan
Looks like some kind of high end engineering competition. MIT vs Harvard or something.

greg g
here is anoher shot. Don't thinks its a dozer or a diesel. Looks like a supercharged, Overhead Cam V8 with front wheel drive.

Andydodge
I have the Gordon White "Offenhauser" book........no pics that show the Novi, did a search thru google, the pics on the main Offy site aren't real clear but my money's on it being a Novi.......Offy's BIG brother.........FWD and trailing 1/4 eliptic springs........whatever it is, I'd happily donate my left gonad for it................yummy.......I LOVE alloy, DOHC's and centrifical blowers........imagine the gear sounds!!.......andyd
greg g
Andy I agree withthe possibility of an Indy entry. The FWd looks like a Cord, but they never had an OHC production engine, thier v8 was a Lycoming built deal. Might also be a LAND Speed vehicle. Looks a lot heavier built than its indy contemporaries. It's froma series of photos that supposidly came out of the Los Angeles area, which lends it self to dry lakes or Bonneville venues. All the one off cast stuff is certainly auto porn. Offys were all dual overhead cam 4s I believe. I thought he NOVI's were Studebaker based, but perhaps that was later on in the 40/50's. Don Coatney
Is it sitting on wooden saw horses?
Buford Solomon
Is it sitting on wooden saw horses? I was going to ask the same thing. Sitting on wooden sawhorses. Yeeha! Re: the Novi engine. I thought the Novi was made by mounting two Offy heads (the head castings featuring cylinder sleeves and water jackets integral to the conventional "head") on a different crankcase. greg g
The rear of the chassis looks a bit different than the indy ones. But the pic was supposedly taken in LA so miller fits.
