My Newly Upholstered Front Seat

Hey all, here is a pic of my newly upholstered front seat, think I rather like it.

The back seat is not done yet, but will be soon.

Can hardly wait to get them back into my Coupe.....Fred

I'm often asked how my '48 P-15 handles the winters in the Colorado Rockies, and I describe how I'm sitting on an over-stuffed couch in front of a roaring fire. Your overstuffed couch makes me green with envy. Nice work.

Thanx everyone for the "thumbs up". Remember this was done by a sideline upholsterer, a guy who does it in his spare time, A Hutterite Guy, they are like Amish, but believe in and utilize the most modern of technology.

He never worked as an upholsterer, but is self taught, he made the coverings in his basement shop....Fred

the seat looks great...would be nice to find a gentleman around here that does a bit of upholestry side work.

I would like to piggy back a bit on this thread if possible and ask the folks who have been down this road how many yards of material were used for their cars..I found a shop selling remenants of upholestry material and some pieces go up toward 15 yards onhand at 4.00 a yard..be a great time to purchase for upcoming projects..appreciate all that can shed a bit of light here..

Tim I was told ~4 yards a seat with wanting extra to get the patterns to line up etc(depends on the material not an issue with a solid) so I would think anything 10-15 would be good.

There was 10 yards of cloth purchased, and 4 yards of vinyl for the front and back seats, I also bought 4 yards of the same cloth for the door panels, package tray, sun visors too. I think, I will do the package tray in the grey vinyl, will give it an nice offset look to match front seat.

No I did do this work myself, as previously stated, this Man, has commercial upholstery equipment, even though he does this on the side from his basement....Happy New Year

I am not sure what cost the most here..the vinyl back or the cloth back when it comes to "shop" cost of material and labor..I opted for the original cloth inserts on my 54 when it was done last October..I asked the shop if they remember how many yards was used on my car..they could not...nor would he make a guess..must be top secret sewer's guild practices..
