JIPJOBXX Posted February 9, 2007 Report Posted February 9, 2007 Well lets see what makes more sense I bought my old Dodge for 1000 dollars and I can drive it. I certainly don't think a shad is drivable but you could use it in your house. Quote
JIPJOBXX Posted February 9, 2007 Report Posted February 9, 2007 At one time I was thinking of putting a shade in the rear window but these old cars you have enough hard time seeing out without one more blockage of what view you do get. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted February 9, 2007 Report Posted February 9, 2007 Sometimes at shows these little things are what seperate most of the owners..as you can only do so much to a car and retain stock appearance...right trim, right color paint, tires, hubcaps etc..ah but the ventican blind...one of the more elusive accessories of the period. I for one cannot see the price they command...and unless you be napping or the car is rocking there is really no need for one..EXCEPT..he has one..the other guy does not. All is vanity..we are all guilty to some degree of that when outfitting our cars. Quote
Olddaddy Posted February 9, 2007 Report Posted February 9, 2007 Tim is on target as usual. I say these things are what separate the Men from the Maniacs.....no offence to any Maniacs who have them however. Vanity, vanity, thy name is Ebay, check it out, it's in the Bible somewhere, Psalms I think. Quote
Frank M. Posted February 9, 2007 Report Posted February 9, 2007 I had one in the back window of my 1948 Chrysler Club Coupe. Kept a lot of heat out on a hot day!!! Quote
windsor8 Posted February 9, 2007 Report Posted February 9, 2007 The 48 Dodge Club Coupe that got last Sept. has a rear window blind. Didn't know if it was a factor, dealer or Wester Auto accessory. Quote
thedahmer Posted February 11, 2007 Author Report Posted February 11, 2007 Collectors auto supply has a WHOLE bunch of STUFF!!!! but boy is it pricey-- makes Ebay look cheap!! Quote

All is vanity..we are all guilty to some degree of that when outfitting our cars. The blinds do look nice in the cars. They can be a real pain though. Just ask my wife. They are hard to keep clean. They collect a lot of dust and dirt. We use to have them on all the windows in our house except the kitchen. Wife tried all the little gadgets sold and the vacuum to make them easy to clean. None of them did the job and she still ended up taking them down to wash all the time. That's the only way to really get those clean. Submerge them in the tub and wipe each slat separately, then hang to dry. Also, I would think if you had the windows down, they would also rattle a little. My wife has been taking them down and dumping them throughout the house now. So, to my wife and I we think they are just DUST COLLECTORS, that require you to spend your life keeping clean. Quote
