Reg Evans Posted September 15, 2009 Report Posted September 15, 2009 I got a little sandblasting done over the weekend. I took the photo. My wife Lisa did the blasting. Eat your hearts out boys. Quote
Young Ed Posted September 15, 2009 Report Posted September 15, 2009 What are you working on Reg? Quote
Reg Evans Posted September 15, 2009 Author Report Posted September 15, 2009 I'm working on replacing the tailgate on this truck Ed. The original tailgate is torn in the center on both edges. Don't tell Lisa but a found an ever better one on eBay the next day for only $60.00. Quote
Reg Evans Posted September 15, 2009 Author Report Posted September 15, 2009 Will she travel??????? She loves to travel so I'm sure we can work something out. $$$$.$$ Quote
Young Ed Posted September 15, 2009 Report Posted September 15, 2009 I was hoping you were working on that truck. Did you ever find a stainless piece for the one side? Now I thought the sweptsides had a special narrow tailgate unique to them-have you tried these for fit? Quote
Reg Evans Posted September 15, 2009 Author Report Posted September 15, 2009 All I've managed to find for the long stainless strip are 2 fairly long strips from a 4 door wagon. I'm going to have to have them welded together to make one long strip. The tailgate on the Sweptside measures 55" overall at the bottom just like the D100 stepside trucks of the same era so that parts easy. It's too bad they ( The SEG) didn't take the time to make a wagon tailgate fit the opening. The tops of the fins on the Sweptside measure 69" apart while the wagon fins measure 70 1/2" apart. Quote
Young Ed Posted September 15, 2009 Report Posted September 15, 2009 Reg I didn't know you had a matching wagon too. I hope you didn't buy it just for the stainless strips! Looks like another fun toy Quote
Reg Evans Posted September 15, 2009 Author Report Posted September 15, 2009 Nope. I got the strips on the bay. I've owned the wagon for around 15 years now. We use to use it as our daily driver until we got sick of being snowed in and bought a Durango 4 x 4. Quote

Reg Evans Posted October 1, 2009 Author Report Posted October 1, 2009 Snowed in???? Looks like a heavy dew to me!!! Yeah Greg, us left coasters are kinda girly men when it comes to that good old mountain dew. Quote
pflaming Posted October 2, 2009 Report Posted October 2, 2009 Snow is beautiful but it is always COLD! Miss it yet not enough to move east! Quote
greg g Posted October 2, 2009 Report Posted October 2, 2009 Now that is a decent accumulation, I would venture to guess this is some ski area or mt resort. Quote
Reg Evans Posted October 2, 2009 Author Report Posted October 2, 2009 You are correct Greg. It's at a cabin my daughter and son in law rented last season up at about the 6000' elevation near the Boreal Ridge Ski Resort. That's our red Durango in the foreground. Glad we didn't drive the 59 Sierra Wagon. That snow fall occurred over the first night ( Christmas Eve) and then all over again again the next day. It's pretty but you wouldn't want to live there. Bah Humbug. Quote
