Certainly unique. I wonder if it is a factory protoype or was someone just having some fun?

Not a factory prototype and definitely not connected to anything produced post-war. Someone was trying to produce a custom car to his/her own preferences.

Would like to know where the body came from. If you look closely at the front view of the car you can see the rear window is a two-piece design.

So that part of the car came from something before 1941.

If you look closely at the pic,it looks as though someone has cut out the door skins and filled in behind with timber.

Looks like stained ply board.

If you look close, you can see a gap between the door skin and timber!

Hhhhmmmmm,a bit sus i spect!

This car has shown up on Ebay several times. I've seen better pictures of it before and it's really crude. Somebody tried to make a woody out of it and failed miserably. You'd be better off buying an old junker and starting from scratch with your own wood body. I can saw off the back of my P-15 and build a plywood body and call it a one-off, super rare, super expensive car, but it would still be junk.

Sounds like it would be an exellent parts car but you would never get it for a parts car price. As mentioned previously, the split rear window comes from something earlier. Maybe it started life as a convertible?

The whole thing is misproportioned. The doors look to be the short one from a four door, the rear side windows are to long. The top looks like one from the specially bodied Desoto the Loel Torres posted years back. And it does look like the rear wood is semi factory but painted. Tail lights look more chrysler than Dodge, but who knows.

Here is a decent Town Sedan for sale on Long Island.

Greg, that is a nice car at a reasonable price, especially being the unusual town sedan. Too bad it is on the other side of the continent from where I live!
