steveplym Posted April 23, 2009 Report Posted April 23, 2009 Not sure where the "Bel-Air" came from. It is a pretty nice woody though. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chevrolet-Bel-Air-150-210-1948-PLYMOUTH-DELUXE-WOODIE-WAGON-TOTAL-RESTORATION_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ72Q3a1171Q7c66Q3a2Q7c65Q3a12Q7c39Q3a1Q7c240Q3a1318Q7c301Q3a0Q7c293Q3a3Q7c294Q3a50QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem160330203114QQitemZ160330203114QQptZUSQ5fCarsQ5fTrucksQQsalenotsupported Quote
Dennis Hemingway Posted April 23, 2009 Report Posted April 23, 2009 That is a funny looking "1948 Chevrolet Bel Air/150/210". That is a nice custom they made it look just like a 1948 PLYMOUTH DELUXE WOODIE WAGON. LOL Dennis:D Quote
RobertKB Posted April 23, 2009 Report Posted April 23, 2009 Lot of money for a car with a driver's door handle that is droopy. That is one of my pet peeves. If you spend that much on a car restoring it at least make the handle level. It's not hard to do. Quote
Jim Yergin Posted April 23, 2009 Report Posted April 23, 2009 Robert, My car suffers from droopy passenger side door handle. What is the cure? Thanks. Jim Yergin Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted April 23, 2009 Report Posted April 23, 2009 Just guessing here, but I would suppose a new inner works of the door handle/latch system......and possibly a new handle with a non-worn shaft. Quote
Reg Evans Posted April 23, 2009 Report Posted April 23, 2009 At least this one looks better than this one's drooping rear fenders. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cars-Trucks___PLYMOUTH-WOODIE-WAGON-NOT-FORD-WOODY-ALL-NEW-WOOD_W0QQitemZ320335989308QQddnZCarsQ20Q26Q20TrucksQQddiZ2282QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_Cars_Trucks?hash=item320335989308&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245&_trkparms=65%3A-1%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318 Quote
Young Ed Posted April 23, 2009 Report Posted April 23, 2009 I was just wondering what ever happened to that one. Didn't they mention something about fixing the rear fenders? Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted April 23, 2009 Report Posted April 23, 2009 I don't know what they can do about the crooked fenders, except take the thing back apart in that area, and re-do once they get the fenders straight. I bet that would be a lot of work, after all the trouble they've already gone to. But it would sure make the car better. I'd call that a lack of forethought and perhaps knowledge of how the car should be. They must have "ass"umed the fenders were in the correct position. Quote
RobertKB Posted April 23, 2009 Report Posted April 23, 2009 Robert,My car suffers from droopy passenger side door handle. What is the cure? Thanks. Jim Yergin Jim, as mentioned the shaft on the handle should not be rounded. The hole the handle fits into in the locking mechanism should not rounded. If both of these are OK you can either put in new springs in the lock mechanism or do as I did. I put small spacers (roughly 1/4" square) made out of inner tube behind the backstop that the spring operates. This stops the mechanism from coming back as far and puts more pressure on the spring getting rid of the "droop". It's a matter of trial and error and worked well for me when I did my '38 Chrysler. Hope this helps. Quote
Jim Yergin Posted April 23, 2009 Report Posted April 23, 2009 Thanks Robert. I will give it a try. Jim Yergin Quote
