I'm finally working on the Chrysler after over a year! Feels great!

I'm doing the pan gasket and I can't remember where the two little black rubber pieces go. I seem to recall they fill the space where the sides meet the end but I can't remember if its front or rear!!!

It goes on the front over the crankshaft. The rear of the motor is the rear main seal. Those three holes in that half moon shaped piece are threaded and the front plate which the timing chain cover bolts up to bolts up to them. I'll see if I have a pic of this somewhere.

So they are just a gap filler in that spot to ensure a good seal? I think the last pan gasket I did, I just put a bit extra RTV in those corners as that gasket set was minus those rubbers.

In that pic of Jim's above it shows the entrenched area per say where the small rubber pieces go. They just fit snug in those grooves and seal.

WOW, that's a new one on me...good thing I asked or I would have screwed it up.

I didn't fill those grooves on the last pan gasket I did. No leaks but good to know the right way to do it.

Thanks alot for your help!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the pic, Steve...helps alot!
