1955 plymouth Posted April 6, 2009 Report Posted April 6, 2009 Check out this "50 Deluxe, I am thinking about picking this one up tomorrow morning. Let me know what you all think. Pretty clean original car. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted April 6, 2009 Report Posted April 6, 2009 From what I can see, that looks like a pretty nice car. Maybe a little rust just below the bottom of the trunk lid. How are the floors? Quote
1955 plymouth Posted April 6, 2009 Author Report Posted April 6, 2009 I know the drivers rear has a hole in the floor, I was told that was it. Here is a pic of that and a couple others. Thanks, the opinions really do matter to me. From Washington state. Quote
RobertKB Posted April 6, 2009 Report Posted April 6, 2009 Decent looking car. I love that colour on the old Plymouths. It all comes down to price and if you like the car. If the price was in my range, I wouldn't hesitate. Love the dashes in those cars. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted April 6, 2009 Report Posted April 6, 2009 Engine bay looks typically dirty. Probably a good reason there are indian blankets on the seats. How are the seats, really? They can always be recovered when you get ready. Quote
1955 plymouth Posted April 6, 2009 Author Report Posted April 6, 2009 I was told the front seat could use re-upholstered, The price I can come away at is $2000 I think this is a good deal? Classic cars are all different I know depending on care over the years and garage time spent. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted April 6, 2009 Report Posted April 6, 2009 Sounds respectable to me. I presume it runs ok and you can drive it home?? Quote
Brendan D25 Posted April 6, 2009 Report Posted April 6, 2009 The most common area to look for Rust is in the inner rockers and the ends of the body support braces, or maybe you know this. I don't know where you are but where I live that car, at that price, would be a gift. Brendan. Quote
blueskies Posted April 6, 2009 Report Posted April 6, 2009 I paid $1800 for my '50 about 9 years ago. It was in similar condition, less rust but had a few dents and some bent stainless trim. I would pull up the rubber floor mat and look at the front floors. I don't know if I've ever seen the rear floors rust out like that, but the fronts have low spots in the outer front corners where the body mount bolts are and they are the typical rust out spots, along with the rockers. If the rears are gone, I'd bet the fronts are about the same. Pete Quote
1955 plymouth Posted April 14, 2009 Author Report Posted April 14, 2009 We went and picked the old car up today. We coulnd't secure a car trailer anywhere close by so I wound up driving the old girl home, approx 133 mile road trip. Today we went thru some sun breaks, a lot of rain, and even found some hail but the old Plymouth powered thru it all without the slightest hesitation. The odometer only shows 28456 miles, smooth ride, not sure if it has 28k or 128?? either way is fine with me, the only real cancer is in the rear drivers side floor, everything else is only surface. So here comes the next project for me and Dad to work on. We will call this one his for now. Quote
gnoub1948 Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 $2000 is a steal. I paid $300 for door hinges! Gary Quote
steveplym Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 Looks like a nice car. Always fun to drive home a car you just bought. Especially if it's an old car. Quote

Niel Hoback Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 You really got a good one there! Looks like someone already converted to a paper air filter for you. Nice steering wheel, too. For all you Canucks; beauty, eh? Quote
