I posted a few days ago and said I would post a picture of the new firewall insulating pad as installed in my truck, I don't seem to be able to get the pics to go through, if someone would be so kind to post them for me I will send them to an email address and let someone with more computer smarts take care of this for me, Thanks Byron

Byron, has installing the firewall pad made a considerable difference in cutting down on the engine and road noise? My truck is bare metal, but would consider adding this pad if it makes a big difference. How would you rate the installation difficulty

from :) 1 to 10

In my 46 the pad made a huge diff in noise. I had some chunks of the original one in place but not much. The new one is cardboard backed with carpet jute. It was pretty difficult to install. Everything that goes through the firewall has to go through the new pad. I had to remove my starter pedal, temp and oil gauge lines, all wiring, and the coil/ign on my truck. I'd say 5out of 10 for difficulty. Its not so much hard as a PITA.

First, thank you Reg for posting the pic for me. Installing the insulation pad was time consumming, but I enjoyed every minute, would be much easier if done during a full restoration when everything was already apart. I would rate the difficulty at a 5. I was impressed with the fit and the line up of all the holes. I can tell some difference on the noise in the cab, I had bought some double foil faced furnace duct insulation and glued it in with trim adheisive in the back of the cab and most of the floor about a year ago that REALLY quited things down and was inexpensive. I have redone several of these trucks and the biggest reduction in noise happened with the headliner and back of cab soundproofing installation.
