Norm's Coupe Posted February 21, 2009 Report Posted February 21, 2009 Here's a few of the notched wrenches I mentioned before. You can get these in the auto parts store or hardware stores most of the time. And, they are cheap as you can see, but they work when you need them. 1 Quote
Don Coatney Posted February 21, 2009 Report Posted February 21, 2009 I have a picture of Ed's tool. I just pictured it in my mind. You have a mind:D I have successfully used needle nose pliers to remove these bezels with no damage. Quote
mikemaker Posted February 21, 2009 Report Posted February 21, 2009 Cool, more than happy to rekey those locks. cheers mike Quote
Furylee2 Posted July 15, 2014 Report Posted July 15, 2014 It would seem that a person could find a hollow metal tube, that was sturdy enough for the task, and then do the notch on the end without drilling thru the middle of a bolt. Lazy man's way out perhaps. A friend of mine is doing a total restoration on his 41 coupe (bought it in 64). The headlight switch was the last thing to come out of the interior. He couldn’t get the bezel loose, so I came up with this Sunday. Took me about 10 minutes with a Drumel tool. He called today, worked great! Used a boxed end wrench and it came right off. Quote
Young Ed Posted July 15, 2014 Author Report Posted July 15, 2014 Too funny. I recently stumbled across the actual tool for this job! I will have to post a picture of it tomorrow but I bought a snap on socket that does exactly this. I also found one in the same auction that does the special screws for the wiper motors. Quote
ledfootslim Posted July 15, 2014 Report Posted July 15, 2014 So now I've gotta ask.......what was the dinosaur standing on?????? Quote
desoto1939 Posted July 15, 2014 Report Posted July 15, 2014 There are several varieties of the tool that you just made on the Ebay. They are basically sockets that have been ground down to have the two flat notches on the ends. There is a gentleman that has made all of the sockets to fits the various bezel's for the Mopar cars and trucks. It might be our contact with the trucks parts. I can not think of his name and the name of the company but if you look an ebay you will find these tools. I have one for my 39 Desoto and it fits on a 1/4 inch socket set. Rich HArtung Quote
