Just wanted to say hi to everyone.. Im new here.

Just bought a 42 Special Deluxe here in Hawaii.

Its in pretty decent shape.. other than sitting for around 10 years... Trying to get the ol' girl road worthy once again. Few people mentioned this site, so, figured Id come by and drop a hello.

Heres a link to photobucket for pics on my new car :D

Welcome. Sure looks like a nice car......must have been well cared for.

You might consider going back to the "User Control Panel" and putting

either in the signature line, or the location line generally where you live

and what make/model car you have........so we can remember what

vehicle we are talking about in the future.

I borrowed this photo from your album.

How long are you going to borrow it for? I might need it back shortly. Thanks.

Nice looking car.

Has it spent its lifetime in Hawaii?

Welcome aboard' date=' this is a great site[/quote']

Its in pretty good shape.. As far as I know, the interior is all original. It has 47k miles on it.. Original motor/trans. Has been painted once in her life.

I am not quite certain how long exactly its been in Hawaii.. I do know for the last 20 years at least. I am going to try and find out more of the history of this car.. If anyone has any ideas on where to start, it would be much appreciated.

Welcome to the forum. That is a sweet looking '42 and they are quite a rare car as they did not make many of them. Whereabouts in Hawaii?

Welcome aboard, You have a real Jewel of a car there and it looks like everything is still there, like the air cleaner support strap and the ship emblems on the door molding....I did not realize that the 42 ply looks like a P15 with differet trim. let us know your progress on your great find...

Will do...

As with most of my other cars, I love to photo-document them, at least once or twice a week.. trying to get similar angles if possible.. that way I can see for myself, (and anyone who cares) the progress (or degress in some cases... :( ) of the car. I "restored" a 62 Fairlane and it amazes me every time I look at the starting pictures just how far the car has come.

On top of that.. I find it helpful for myself, and I assume others, when there are multiple pictures of a car in many angles.. Lets you see really what the cars looked like.. :)

And yes.. all of the door emblems are mint as is the steering wheel emblem, and dash piece. no hairline cracks.. all the color is nice.. Its only missing the front ship emblem on the grill.. prolly will have a hard time finding one of those :(

Oh... and the bottom stainless trim under the doors.

I might be able to help with that. A friend of mine bought an NOS one on eBay that was advertised as '41, but when he got it, it was for a '42. Let me know and I can hook you up with him. Lee

Shouldnt be any difference between the DeLuxe, and Special DeLuxe right?

Great find. Looks like it's ready to go with very little prep work. Are the brakes working OK?

These cars came with brakes?

Hmm.. Interesting....

So far no brakes... pedal to the floor... havent even begun looking into that yet.. I really wanted to get the motor running, gas tank fixed, and new tires first...

But.. I guess I should start checking into that ASAP..
