Dennis Hemingway Posted December 27, 2008 Report Posted December 27, 2008 Howard Tarnoff's Plymouth is in the Feb 2009 GoodGuys Gazette in the coverage of the the GoodGuys East Coast Nationals, on Page #137. Dennis:cool: Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted December 27, 2008 Report Posted December 27, 2008 have not heard back from him of late..did he get another engine so it could be driven? I think last report was that of bad engine.. Quote
Don Coatney Posted December 27, 2008 Report Posted December 27, 2008 A good engine is not a requirement for a magazine photo shoot. Howard has put enough cash into his car that he deserves all the ink and trophies he can get. Quote
Dennis Hemingway Posted December 27, 2008 Author Report Posted December 27, 2008 Here is the Photo. Dennis:cool: Quote
busycoupe Posted December 27, 2008 Report Posted December 27, 2008 Is Howard in New England? I think that I have seen his car at a show in Medway, Mass. Quote
busycoupe Posted December 27, 2008 Report Posted December 27, 2008 I checked my photos and found Howard's car at the Cliquot Cruise in Millis, MA last Aug. It seemed to be running fine then. Here is a picture of my coupe at the same cruise: Quote

busycoupe Posted December 27, 2008 Report Posted December 27, 2008 I posted the pics on Kodak picture gallery. I could see them in my preview post, but perhaps they did not come through. I just set the gallery to "share" see if it works now. Dave B Quote

Dennis Hemingway Posted December 27, 2008 Author Report Posted December 27, 2008 I still get the Red X's. I think Howard said that he lives in Mass & Fla both. Dennis:rolleyes: Quote
busycoupe Posted December 27, 2008 Report Posted December 27, 2008 I put the pics on photobucket. Hope it works! My coupe: Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted December 27, 2008 Report Posted December 27, 2008 Howard does have a nice car. I've never heard anything about him having a bad engine though. That said, even if the engine is bad it must run at least to drive it in and out of the gate at the Good Guys show. One of the show rules for entering your car in any Good Guys show is that it has to be driven in and out of the gate of the show under it's own power. No trailers allowed on the show grounds hauling a show car at any time on the grounds. Check the rules in you magazine. They are right on the entry forms toward the back of your magazine. Quote
Don Coatney Posted December 27, 2008 Report Posted December 27, 2008 I put the pics on photobucket. Hope it works! My coupe: They need to be under each other not next to each other. Nice looking D-24 Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted December 27, 2008 Report Posted December 27, 2008 One can do a search here an see Howard's lament on body and engine work during the coarse of his build with the last being after the car was togehter and gone but a few miles..I have not heard further from him on this forum.. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted December 27, 2008 Report Posted December 27, 2008 Howard's wheel covers look good on that car. Several years ago, I sold a friend here a pair of those aftermarket 1959 Dodge Lancer flipper caps.....and he added bullets in the center also. This car is a 4 door Merc convertible with a musical theme. Quote
steveplym Posted December 27, 2008 Report Posted December 27, 2008 have not heard back from him of late..did he get another engine so it could be driven? I think last report was that of bad engine.. I think his engine was okay Tim, he was having problems with his transmission. I checked the archives and his last post after the trans issue was that he was going to Rhinebeck Goodguys in the car. Maybe he got that fixed then. Quote
Normspeed Posted December 28, 2008 Report Posted December 28, 2008 One of the nicest flatheads I've ever seen. The car has some nice subtle touches too. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted December 28, 2008 Report Posted December 28, 2008 I remember him saying that the engine had been built first..then during the course of the body being prepped..sanding etc etc without the engine ocvered..etc etc..that the engine went south shortly after the rebuilt..then I think he may have gottee another paint job..like Don said..he has thrown plenty of money into his car...really I don't recall him saying anything went right with the work he farmed out.. Quote
blueskies Posted December 29, 2008 Report Posted December 29, 2008 I remember him saying ...that the engine went south shortly after the rebuilt.. Right after the first startup they found the oil pan full of shot peen or something... ruined the bearings and crank. Had to start over... He wasn't sure if it was from Asche or the first shop that did shoddy work on the rest of the car, so he sucked it up and moved on. Pete Quote
cranbrook rookie Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 does anyone know what brand of headers howard is using ?? they sure look sweet thanks Quote
moparalltheway Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 The only thing that car needs is a Early Hemi. Then he would get more mags to cover car and a feature story in Good Guys. Very nice car well done! Quote
Frank Elder Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 I don't know if you noticed, but we like flatheads here. Quote
Dennis Hemingway Posted December 30, 2008 Author Report Posted December 30, 2008 I don't know if you noticed, but we like flatheads here. I don't know about that I'd love to have a HEMI for my P15. I even take a new one like this one. Dennis:D Quote
Frank Elder Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 I thought I would get a quick reply to that one:D As stated before I ask a lot of custom questions, but this car is going to remain stock. Am currently shopping for a second one, D-24 CC, to rod out, so guess I am of two opinions. Anyway the second one is going to be home to a vintage 392:eek: Quote
moparalltheway Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 I don't know if you noticed but I like FAT Heads. Now that's a man after my heart. Let me know if you need any help. p.s. That one there don't look to stock to me? Quote
