Jim Yergin Posted December 14, 2008 Report Posted December 14, 2008 Rodney, I just got the most recent Hemmings Classic Car magazine (February). There is an article about the restoration of a 1958 Golden Hawk. I thought of you I soon as I saw it. If you don't already have it you might want to check it out. Jim Yergin Quote
Rodney Bullock Posted December 14, 2008 Report Posted December 14, 2008 Thanks JIm I will be looking for it:) Quote
David Maxwell Posted December 14, 2008 Report Posted December 14, 2008 ... there was an episode of The 100 Cars You Must Drive on TV last week and the feature car was a Golden Hawk as well. Quote
Frank Elder Posted December 14, 2008 Report Posted December 14, 2008 What channel? I would like to see that one, it's always interesting to see and hear other opinions. Quote
Rodney Bullock Posted December 15, 2008 Report Posted December 15, 2008 It's the speed channel, They had a marathon of 101 cars you should drive and I saw it again, while I was going though my cabin fever:) Quote
Frank Elder Posted December 15, 2008 Report Posted December 15, 2008 Shucks, I don't have that package. Any big ole land yachts? Or just go fasters? Quote
Rodney Bullock Posted December 15, 2008 Report Posted December 15, 2008 The great thing about the show was they did not dwel on the most famous or most desired. One episode they had the K car;) and the Plymouth Caravan. Then on one show jay Leno drove his Vette special ordered. One show had a Tiger I think someone on this forum has one of those, very interesting. The Studebakers had to make the cut because the are fantastic cars with great history. I hope you get to see some of the show:D Quote
Jim Shepard Posted December 17, 2008 Report Posted December 17, 2008 God I'd love to have one of those. When I got my license back in '63 my dad had a '58 Golden Hawk - all those gauges and toggle switches, plus a Paxton supercharger! Got my license in July and my first ticket in September! I know, I know - what took me so long? Quote
Rodney Bullock Posted December 21, 2008 Report Posted December 21, 2008 Jim, I had my mag for a while however I did not know I had it. The wife puts my magazines up so I don't read them to soon. She also read the article and enjoyed it alot. I got a chance to read it and I was very surprized to see a car that was well maintained still had the same issues that mine did. I was also surprized that one could be bought for such low money. I have a "Turning Wheels" mag that has this car in it. It is a very good resto and these guy's were lucky because they found NOS fenders for the car. I had to repair all my fenders. They were also lucky bewcause they had the supercharger and Ted Habit help in restoring the unit. I would have missed the article because on the cover there is a very very small icon there. Thanks for the heads up. Jim your next project could be, should be ....a Stude-D-Baker maybe;) Quote
