BobT-47P15 Posted December 13, 2008 Report Posted December 13, 2008 Received a call a couple days ago from a young man who is music director for a local Baptist church. They are having this weekend a Christmas music program done in "big band" style. They wanted some old cars from the era to add to the flavor of the event. A lady gave him my name as having such a car. In the lobby of the church are parked a 40 Ford 2 door and a 39 Plymouth coupe.....both street rods. They went thru the doors of the building with an inch or less to spare on each side. However, the Plym was a couple inches too wide. So, it's outside the doors instead. Which is OK...I just took it home last night after the show started. Will bring it back on Sat and Sunday for the other two programs. Quote
55 Fargo Posted December 13, 2008 Report Posted December 13, 2008 Looks good Bob, hope the floor, and supporting structure is strong enough to hold up the 2 cars. Or is there no basment under the floor.............Fred Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted December 13, 2008 Author Report Posted December 13, 2008 Fred......no clue about the floor. We do not attend that church, have actually never been thru the building. It has developed into a huge place over the years with several additions. Sits near one of the busiest intersections in town. Since it is a 40s theme, I placed the "A" sticker on the windshield. I'm sure the old timers will know what it is. Quote
Captain Neon Posted December 14, 2008 Report Posted December 14, 2008 Can I ask a dumb question about the A ration sticker? By 1946, the war was over. Were they still rationing gasoline and rubber when your car was new? Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted December 14, 2008 Author Report Posted December 14, 2008 I doubt it. I just thought it was a general period item. Lots of people won't even know what it is. Quote
knuckleharley Posted December 14, 2008 Report Posted December 14, 2008 Arrrrrgggghhh! Every time I see that yellow convertible of yours jealousy eats my liver like acid. Quote
Frank Elder Posted December 14, 2008 Report Posted December 14, 2008 Now those are my kind of holy rollers! Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted December 14, 2008 Report Posted December 14, 2008 Bob, While your convertible was at the church, did it get baptized? Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted December 15, 2008 Author Report Posted December 15, 2008 Norm, it might have gotten sprinkled today (Sun) as it rained this afternoon. So, it stayed in the garage and did not make an appearance for today's show. However, we attended the program tonight......it was basically set in 1941... was a very nice presentation. They said they began rehearsing back in Sept. Here's the program they had. Quote
