Frank Elder Posted December 13, 2008 Report Posted December 13, 2008 My passenger side window has cracks, bought the replacement pane, how difficult is the removal process? D-24CC. I have my service manual, so the procedure is understood, what tricks of the trade are there that the manual doesn't state? Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted December 13, 2008 Report Posted December 13, 2008 just a matter of rremoving the glass from the door...seperate the forward guide from the lower track..set the new glass with setting tape to the forward guide..then attach to the lower guide..the lower guide will more than not be in need of a tad of clean up..possibly sandblast..if not able to sandblast..remove most scale you can..thin protective/preserving coat of POR 15 as an aide to using the setting tape...light coat of mineral oil will act as a lubricant, also activitates the setting properties of the tape..let set so the mineral spirits will completely evaporate, will not take long to dry....if you are not replacing the vent seal..protect it with some tape while you are working everything..take care and prtect the upright's trip cap from damage..those rollers on the track are a pain in the butt. careful here also as the old spring like to snap capow..I know of no source for these..
