Bodacious Posted December 10, 2008 Report Posted December 10, 2008 Does anyone here perchance own this? What a wonderful and pristine car. Of all places, this was posted on a Corvette forum that I frequent. I know of course that it'll be more fully appreciated here. I hope you enjoy seeing and reading about it as much as I did. http://www.californiaclassix.com/archive/40_Barn-Dodge_c154.html Quote
TodFitch Posted December 10, 2008 Report Posted December 10, 2008 Nice car. I hope it has a good home now. However there were some liberties with the story. The first that caught my eye was: Back in 1940, life in the Country was running at a different pace. You could leave your house unlocked, and, of course, your car. Television and graffiti were words without meaning. Television was commercially introduced in 1939 and they have found graffiti in the ruins of Pompeii and the word graffiti is from the mid-1800s. So both those words had meaning in 1940. Quote
old woolie Posted December 10, 2008 Report Posted December 10, 2008 This car has been extensivly discussed in a previous thread. Quote
steveplym Posted December 11, 2008 Report Posted December 11, 2008 I've received two email forwards the past two weeks on this car. Neat car, but not sure what all the fuss is about. Quote
Frank Elder Posted December 11, 2008 Report Posted December 11, 2008 Good solid looking car, but I think the writer must have a little PR man in him. If he was a PBR man he would have just put a FOR SALE sign on the windshield and parked it in the front yard. PS Any one else notice the missing shift knob, bet that could be a pain to find. Quote
eric wissing Posted December 11, 2008 Report Posted December 11, 2008 There is a tin of split shot that is from the 1960s. I think the man needs a flogging!! Anywho, nice car and a good story teller. If he hones his skills a bit more there might be a place At Barret Jackson't for him. Eric Quote
austinsailor Posted December 11, 2008 Report Posted December 11, 2008 PS Any one else notice the missing shift knob, bet that could be a pain to find. It's really a little bit more than a pain - it's not even a shift knob. On this one the whole arm is one metal piece with molded plastic over it. I have two 4 door '40 dodges, both are bad and I have not found a source. Guess I'll turn a piece of wood and slip over it. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted December 11, 2008 Report Posted December 11, 2008 It's always nice to see a truly original car, of whatever type and brand. They are a good source to show what was actually original, and not someone's interpretation of what they consider "original" as you see the term used on many ebay ads. Sometimes the cars described as original on ebay -- are original, or very close. So, they are another source of how they really looked. You sorta need to know what you're looking at, however. Quote
