I've always liked the look of sunvisors on the old Plymouths. I got one for my 41 coupe, just haven't gotten it painted and installed yet.

The outside sunvisor looks great, I have always liked them on the 40's and early 50's vehicles. Growing up my Uncle John had a late 40's GMC pickup with the outside sunvisor, so naturally when I got my Plymouth 20 years ago this month one of the first things I did was save some money and bought a Fulton sunvisor from Moores in Rapid City.

In fact my youngest son Shane, who is 27, has had a 1951 Chevy 4dr sedan that he got an outside sunvisor from Big Jim's.

So needless to say we enjoy our outside visors very much.

Thanks for sharing

I don't care for them on cars. Certainly go for it if you like the look if you like it. Typically I prefer smoothness. I took the spotlight off my car too for the same reason.

I had never considered purchasing one but my 52 suburban came with one on it. It does look good so for now it will stay on mostly concerned about having good road vision when driving.

I agree about stop lights, the first few times that I drove the Plymouth I made the mistake of driving up to the light like I would in a newer car, well after the crick in my neck a couple of times, now if I pull up the a traffic light and am the first vehicle there, I don't pull up as close as I normally would to the line.

I had one on the 49..stock factory style..similar to the item pictured above..kink in neck is correct..but does add a bit of looks to the car..it is the fulton brand with them big ugly mounts that I think detract from the car..I have one of them here also..came on the 41 Town Sedan..I also have one more like the one pictured above and though about putting it on my Suburban..not sure yet..the Stude has a visor of its own that is very Stude mount only..very sharp looking device...

I like them minus the pin stripes. Just hunch down like the "Where's the beef" lady to see the traffic lights.

After viewing the pictures, I would wonder if you should raise the front

edge up just a bit further. Looks awfully low.

You might should get one of these prism stoplight viewers to address the stoplite problem.

Buy it now $22.95 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Traffic-light-viewer-GUIDE-for-Vintage-Rat-Hot-Rod-car_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ72Q3a1416Q7c66Q3a2Q7c65Q3a12Q7c39Q3a1Q7c240Q3a1318QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem270295153926QQitemZ270295153926QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

Or, the slightly cheaper stick on kind.

Personally, I love it! I think it sets your car off and out from the crowds.

Cool!

As for the crink in the neck, my chop top has given me plenty of tight necks.

I like the sunvisor on my car. Makes it look good. I, like Ed, did not like to spot light on the car. It always got in the way when driving and making tight left turns. Got rid of it, but the sun stays out of your eyes better with the visor, and off the dash too.

I have a visor on my 48 Dodge and yes it makes it a little tricky to see traffic lights without bending your neck like a drain trap. I use the reflection of the traffic light in the paint on the hood. just be careful that you're seeing the right signals.

I have never liked the Fenton visor...side bracket is too busy and unsightly. I did like the Peckat visor. I had one on my frst 49 Chrysler, a dealer added accesory installed when it was new. The paint was shiney enough to see the reflection of the traffic lights in the hood paint.

Here is a photo that I took this Spring driving down the road, I made sure that there was no traffic when I took the photo. As you can see, the view is good thru the windshield, even with the outside Fulton Sunvisor

I saw a Peckat on a Plymouth suburban couple years back. It was a textured aluminum with brushed aluminum ends and center piece. Nice looking unit. the bottom was painted a ice Jailhouse green.

Yeah, I like the visor. I get what Don's saying about the lights, but its not a daily driver like "old yeller", so maybe form over function wins this time. :D

aero, I think if you moved the visor back further on the rain gutter, it would give you better vision. Probably about where your rearview mirror is located. If you keep it will you be painting the same colour as the car. IMHO they look better painted body colour. Re traffic lights, most places now have a light at the right side of the intersection which makes it easier to see. Brendan.
