my property fronts two roads also Shel and it irks me to no end how the slobs and pigs throw trash out of their cars without regard to how it looks or who will clean up behind the a-holes..I stopped one person one time who threw some stuff on my property...it was a visiting carload of northerners here attending a RV convention at the ag center..now I am not picking on northern people per say and I was as courteous to them as possible when I explained to them that the cotton balls they picked out of the field above my house, inspected and threw on my property would lay there almost two years before it degraded enough as not to be seen...I am very sure they had no idea that even though cotton was organic in nature that its decay rate was that slow...they apologized, got out of the car and picked it up..I can only hope they did not throw it out after getting out of my sight.

While we are on this subject lets talk about the carry in carry out policy. That is a terrific policy at a public park. But how and why did that become a policy at a fast food eatery? When I eat inside at any fast (or slow) food eatery I never carry my trash and dump it on the way out the door. I leave it on the table. Two reasons. First, if I do that I am doing the job someone is paid to do. And secondly why would I want to eat at a table that has not been properly cleaned by the person paid to do that job? Opinions on this are welcomed.

This fits in the same class as the self check out at a grocery store. If you do the self check out you are doing the job that someone is paid to do.

I never consider the second part of your view..ensuring a fresh wshed table top.....your outlook is similar to my way of thinking when it comes to self checkouts..if I use them then the store is making greater profits for I am doing the labor and some poor unwed mother would be unable to be employed and thus provide food for her babies.

Esmey gets mad at me when I refuse to use the self checkout line at any store!

IF I WANTED TO WORK HERE THEN I WOULD HAVE PUT IN AN APPLICATION.

She thinks I'm throwing a fit when all I'm doing is trying to be is a customer, not a volunteer employee.

PS Alway leave a park cleaner than you found it, it's just the right thing to do.

Don and Others,

Think how little the person working at the fast food places are making. When you leave your trash on the table there, you are making the worker work more for the small amount of money earned. If you are going to leave the trash on the table for them to pick up, you should also leave at least a 15% tip for them to pick it up for that service to you. The whole concept at the fast food places are you get your own food, and dispose of your own trash on your way out. Therefore, not having to wait for a waiter/waitress to do that for you, and no tip is expected. However, if you get that service you should also tip them for doing it. It's only fair.

Personally, I like the self checkouts at the stores. Primarily because there is normally no line to wait in. I get out of the store faster using it.

I usually toss my own wrappers but don't get me going on self checkout.

Where I used to live, the construction of a new Home Depot hinged on a ballot vote (after they got caught greasing their way through the city council and planning folks). One of their campaign cries was, we will provide jobs. In less than a year after opening, all self checkouts open but only one or two manned cashiers much of the time. Pretty cheesy.
