Went to the Good Guys Lonestar Nationals at Texas Motoro Speedway on Friday then camped about a mile away with about 30 Jr High and Highschool kids from our youth group. Got up this morning to play paint ball with them until early afternoon. All morning long around the campfire during breakfast you could hear the guys going into and out of TMS.

Walked the entire show and didn't see a singe P15 or D24. Did see a couple of neet Mopar wagons one with a Hemi and a 53 convertable for sale.

Here are a few pictures. Bob may recognize the black 38 Packard Sedan as it is from Joplin and a beautiful car. I will add a few more pictures in another post.

What are those.......55 Chevy maybe.???

Whoa......don't recall ever seeing that lowered Packard here.

Someone must be keeping it hid out.

Now I'll be watching for it.

I was there all day friday and say a 40 and a 41, 4 door ,two 46/48 4 doors and three coupes. Trouble was that they were letting them drive in and out of the display area. Some were going down to the autocross course and some to the swap meet. Some people cannot walk when they can drive all through the meet and see the cars from the comfort of their front seat. Some were looking to see where they could power park on Saturday and Sunday to get the judges attention.

It is all about money.

It's oversimplifying a bit, but most Goodguys feature cars start with expensive engine/chassis mods, add really large rims, and finish with paint jobs worth more than my entire car. You almost never see a car with paint chips or a cracked window, it just wouldn't do!

I personally am a Goodguys member and enjoy being a member. I get a magazine once a month filled with hundreds of pictures of cars. Which I enjoy reading through. It doesn't cost any more than a magazine subscription.

I have attended one Goodguys event in Nashville last year. I really enjoyed it and had a good time. I just like to park and look at the cars. As a member it is cheaper then Super Chevy, Mopar Nationals, etc. Costs $60 to get into Super Chevy and you don't get much, except free entry and a better chance of getting a trophy. I'm not worried about trophies as I have enough collecting dust now.

I like the Goodguys events and enjoy being a member, but I do know it just isn't everyone's cup of tea.

Guess you never say my '32 then, but its a birds eye on the windshield not a crack. I got the Duece Doins pick one year at the Reinbeck (sp), NY Goodguys, rock chips and all. I think the picker was impressed that I drove all the way from Florida. Charlotte Goodguys is a fun meet, but if your in a roadster like me take a real heavy coat, Its the end of October. To me the big meets are what you make of them. If your there for a trophy there's sure to be someone with a fatter wallet than yours. If your there to have a good time you probably will.

Not all cars at the Nashville GoodGuys two years ago were totally done

up. Most were, however. Some were real high dollar deals, others were

just nice restos done by average guys.

A couple of years ago, they had a Good Guys Show out here in SoCal, a guy I know took his 39 Chevy to it and got a trophy. They wanted all the trophy winners winners to park in a certain place to take pictures. Louie parked his car with them, when they were done taking pictures they said that the winners could leave now. It was real funny, when all those guys started pulling their trailers up and had 3 or 4 guys helping them load their trailers, the looks on all their faces when Louie fired up his car and drove away. That was a Kick. Tony C

We went to GG in Pleasanton (without the car) and it was a good show. There were many many trailer queens there but also a whole section of "home builts" we had a good time chatting with some very talented guys. The swap meet was a kick and I got some good deals on some stuff through vendor specials. I got a one on one mini pinstripping lesson from Von Hotrod and met Chip Foose who was one of the judges. My car certainly wouldn't have won a trophy had it been there. All in all it was a weekend well worth the admission and I will do it again. The cars there were mostly high dollar but there is alot of great ideas on these cars. I will say I was very sick of '32 Fords by the time we left.
