Maybe I missed it but between all the chops and the rodding[ie lowering] I have never heard anything about how your rods survive road scrapes & gas tank dents.

I would really like to hear how different your ride is and how you deal with it !

Would really like to try the one coil cut!

Guess I'm chicken to try lower.

I cut a coil and a half out the front and I had the rear springs dearched to 3.5" and new shocks. The ride isn't the smoothest but it isn't bad.. I scrape the pipes more than anything else. Not much stuff hangs low on these cars.. I have never hit the tank or a crossmember. However if I have too much weight in the car I have bottomed out the driveshaft once or twice.

I have not put my 41 on the road yet..it is lowered with drop spindles..the ground clearance is greatly reduced..the 383 big block sits a bit high however and protected well by the front frame member...original spring rates and relocated shocks hopefully will stiffen the ride and make handling a pleasure..the R&P also is well protected due to the location to prevent bumpsteer with just the tie rod ends being low...anxious to find out..awaiting a few parts to be delivered for this car...promised..but not on scene yet..

My 47 has dropped front spindles and 215/60x15 front tires, the rear has 1-1/2" lowering blocks and 235/60x15 rear tires, and it doesn't drag anything anywhere, even over speed bumps. With the relocated front shocks and gas rear shocks, it rides quite nicely.

I took one coil off mine. I haven't relocated the shocks yet but is on my list. Car rides fine and has just a slight stance, which is what I wanted. Haven't scraped anything, either.

I cut 1/2 coil off the wagon springs and put lowering blocks in the back for just about a 2" drop all around. Air shocks in back for when I want to haul anything or pull the trailer, or just want the raked look. The car handles a lot better even at freeway speeds but still likes to float above 65 mph. But, the next thing on my shopping list is a set of front shock relocaters from Olddaddy.

The only bottoming I've experienced is on some speed bumps when I have a passenger in the car. Checking underneath the only part with scrape marks is the lowest point on the exhaust pipe, which is a hair lower than the frame rail at one spot.

I bottomed out on my oil pan more than I like to admit. I don't do much damage on speed bumps, but one time I hit a pipe I could not avoid on the freeway on the way to Detroit. I paid attention to my oil pressure for many miles after that.

I have had the engine out three times, each time I bang the oil pan back out.

After the engine is where I want it to be, (its going in now), I'm going to fab a scrape plate for it.

I am running the kingpin relocation from Plydo, relocated shocks, 15 inch rims with radials, I forget the size.

I like the look but the bottom A arms are very close to the ground.

I forgot, when I bought the car it already had the front disc brake conversion. But I don't think it had any lowering effect.

My 40 Dodge sedan uses 54 Plymouth stub axles, 1 coil cut from mid 50's Ford coil springs, 14 x 6" mags with 195 x 14 radials, with 295 x 15 tyres on the back, has a fair rake, the front engine pipes (V8) scrape sometimes but as its had the V8 etc since 1973 I'm getting used to it now......lol......andyd
