ewheeler
Are there any issues doing this swap? Do both engines have the same bell housing bolt patterns? I'm hoping that it is just the front motor mounts positioning that is different. Also, am I right that the intake and exhaust manifolds that Langdons sells would not fit the 25 inch long 218, but would fit on the 23 inch 230? plywoody47
218 + 230 = same block.
Young Ed
Not true. There is a 218 in both short and long versions. One is just under 218CI at I think 217.8 and the other is I 218.1. Those might be slightly off but you get the idea.
Brendan D25
Plywoody, my 218 is 2" longer than yours!
RobertKB
In Canada we believe size matters.
ewheeler
The info I got from a PM sounds like this is not a straight across swap. I would really appreciate any suggestions. I would really prefer to make the Mopar 6 work, rather than a cookie cutter small block Chevy (which I also have)
Young Ed
Don C hooked a ply bell housing to a desoto 6 so yes they share bell housings. I believe you are also right that the only mounting difference is in the front. I believe Langdons stuff is for the shorter block. If I remember correctly the intake for a 23in six is about 17in end to end.
