Reg Evans Posted October 25, 2006 Report Posted October 25, 2006 I'm looking for the correct hub caps for "J Lo". This brochure photo shows what they are suppose to look like. The Dodge lettering is straight up and down...not leaning like some I have seen. The caps measure 7.25" inside and either 9 or 10" outside. Quote
Young Ed Posted October 25, 2006 Report Posted October 25, 2006 Reg Have you seen one that actually looks like that? Sometimes the artists got a little creative in the ads. I've got the ones with the slant on my pickup. I believe 9inch ones. Ed Quote
Reg Evans Posted October 25, 2006 Author Report Posted October 25, 2006 Not with my own eyes but the guy at the hub cap place said the lettering was vertical and not slanted. We shall see. Quote
Young Ed Posted October 25, 2006 Report Posted October 25, 2006 I wonder what the 42 plymouths used? The 41s use the same ship as the p15s only with slanted letters. The p15s have the block letters. I can't imagine either company made different caps for 1/2 a year. Let me know when you get them-I'm curious to know. Ed Quote

morson82 Posted November 1, 2006 Report Posted November 1, 2006 Hi Reg, sorry I never got got back to you about the front bumper.....having a lot of personal issues (father passing, blown disc in back, ect) Any-who, I also have a complete set of 1942 Dodge dog-dish style hubcaps from my parts car. They will need to be redone, but they are not rusted through and the lettering is straight up and down, not on a slant. Let me know whay else your looking for, I might have extras. And if you should ever lose your mind and want to sell your 42 Coupe, let me know, I am trying to get one of every car from they year..... Glenn Quote
Reg Evans Posted November 1, 2006 Author Report Posted November 1, 2006 Hi Glen, Sorry to hear about your Dad and your back. Along with the front bumper, brackets, and hub caps I'm looking for the interior door panel stainless and anything that is suppose to go on the window surrounds. Mine were redone but the &%$# p.o. left that stuff off. I'm also looking for a decent 42 speedo. Photos of what you have would be great. Send directly to me at regoevans@sbcglobal.net Thanks, Reg Quote
rcadieux Posted November 3, 2006 Report Posted November 3, 2006 There are some hub caps on e-bay right now for 1946,1947, 1948 dodge cars. From the measurements that you have sounds like the 1942 caps you need are the same as the 46, 47 & 48. I have a 1946 D24 and my caps are the same size as the measurements that you gave. Take a look at the ones on e-bay they are beautiful... Rob Quote
Reg Evans Posted November 3, 2006 Author Report Posted November 3, 2006 Thanks Rob but I can't find them on eBay. It's probably OK though cause I'm really looking for the ones for a 42 model that have a different style of script in the center anyway. Quote
grey beard Posted November 4, 2006 Report Posted November 4, 2006 I just bought a set of 5 nos hub caps like those in your picture from Blackburn's Hubcap and Wheel in Macedonia, OH 330-467-0236. Mine cost $50 each - not too bad for nos and they're beauties! They have a web site too, but it's not on my receipt. Hope this helps. Dave Erb Quote
Reg Evans Posted November 4, 2006 Author Report Posted November 4, 2006 Dave, Would you send a photo of the caps you got from Blackburns. I'd like to see if they differ from the ones he sent me. Thanks, Reg Quote
