  1. I feel like I have seen more pictures of the prototype hemi 6 that was based on our favorite Flathead. Please post them up! I'm a fan of early curiosities. Also - didn't I recall that someone had either the original setup, or a reproduction of the setup at one point in time? Phillips Performance perhaps? It was a long time ago I remember reading that it existed, but I don't recall any pictures or other evidence other than I read it on the internet so it must be true. Jason
  2. Part of the reasoning to get my son an 'old car' for when he had his license was that he had to invest time in making it safer before he could drive it. So today, Jacob, now 15, is starting the process of converting the front brakes to discs (yeah, I know some are quite happy with drums and in all honesty, the drum brakes had been redone relatively recently in the car's life before we bought it). But we are converting. So I'm going to try to get as many details as possible. Started by taking off the hubcaps and loosening the lug bolts (don't forget that the L on right side is left-hand thread). Made sure the back wheels were chocked on both sides and the parking brake (only functional for 2 days) was on. Left the car in gear. Started the jacking. I've got a pair of 6 ton combination jackstands up front and put another pair under the frame (one behind each wheel). You can see them in this photo. Finished jacking up the car and took the wheels off. More to come.
  3. I'm looking for any help! I recently bought a 48 special delux for a great deal, runs like a champ fires right up etc. guy said there was 'minor' electrical problems when they removed something. Well minor to some is major to others!!! It has been converted to 12 V sorta. New coil and alternator, but no lighting or gauges work. I assume the didn't convert the positive ground to negative with the lights but I'm not sure. I've never experienced a positive ground vehicle before. All the wire is deteriorating and needs replacement. I am looking into a wiring harness, but do I go back to the 6V or complete the 12 V conversion correctly? Any help would be great! Matt. (still wet behind the ears)
  4. so first of all, i have a 52 dodge truck b3b, with the original 218 and 3 on the tree. resently i did the conversion from 6v to 12v. i changed the battery to neg. ground, the ignition coil with an exsternal resister, a delco 10 si alternator and got new voltage gauge cause i blew the old one. after doing everything truck starts right up. it started maybe 10 times after the switch. but know when i turn the key the voltage gauge says 12v, when i push the button to turn the engine the volage drops to almost nothing. wft? could i have alread y blown the 6v starter? or maybe the distibitor? i dont know. all help would be greatfully apperiated. man i wish this thing had spell check.
  5. i was just wondering if there were any people out there who had experience with converting the pilothouse B-4 1/2 ton front brakes to something more modern. we were going to stay stock, but we found out that the drums are shot and new ones are $500 NOS each. we were looking for some more modern drum brakes that could be adapted to fit that DONT have an astronomical price tag. not sure whether to just swap the whole front axle with something, or find something that could replace the original brakes with the same spindles. almost thinking universal trailer brakes could be adapted? any help would be appreciated.
