  1. Hey all just joined, about to buy a 1948 special deluxe police model, it looks really clean no rust CA car, its been updated to a 12v system and a th350 trans anything i should specifically look for on these cars. Still has the original motor, and police equipment. Thank you all in advance! Edit: car appears super clean, has won some local car shows, only reported issue is windshield wipers not working.
  2. Hello everyone. Let me start by just saying I’m so glad this place exists. I can’t wait to learn from you all. On to my story. My grand father left me a 1948 Plymouth Special Deluxe when I turned 18. I’ll be 30 this year. In my whole life I’ve never seen the car run. I finally decided to start trying to get it back on the road so I can enjoy like it was intended to be. I spent an entire day with just getting new tires on it. The old ones were rotted and deflated. Today I put a new battery in and tried to start it. I didn’t expect it to fire up. But I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect. When I press the ignition it sounds like the starter is trying but only briefly and nothing from the motor itself. I was hoping you guys could point me in the right direction on what to do next. Even after we get it to fire. Thank you for checking this out! I look forward to getting this girl back on the road!
  3. So I have a 1948 Dodge B Series 3/4 ton truck in my garage from my uncle. The car has its engine completely rebuilt about 5 years ago, then the cab was restored and repainted (he took the engine into the shop and also apparently claims he put $16k into the body), but I'm not so sure about the bed's condition. It's been sitting for about 2-3 years and the engine has very few miles on it. I'll include some pictures. There are a couple spare parts (including glass) in the bed, but mostly nothing that clean. The car is missing finished headlights and most other trim pieces. It's a very clean car and I'm new to the Dodge trucks, so with an engine tune and clean up of the car, what do you guys think it would be worth currently and what would it be worth restored? Thank you -Jack
  4. I have a 48 Plymouth special deluxe and havent been able to get this motor to start. It cranks and I put gas in the carb trying to get it to start. Though when I was working on it my stud that the positive cable bolts to got really hot. Wire isnt hot but just the bolt. I get the motor to crank and sounds like it wants to start because it does pop but cant get it to run.
  5. Can some one tell me what size fuel line I need to run from the fuel pump to the gas tank. Also what size compression nuts I need so that I can flare the ends and connect the new line with the pump and new tank. Thanks. 1948 plymouth deluxe
  6. Without buying a harness. What awg wiring do I use to redo everything. Headlights, horn, under dash, dom lights, parking lights, brake lights.
  7. Can someone tell me the order to wire this up ? And which spark plug is #1 and #6 on the engine.
  8. I'm looking for these ivory knobs. Or maybe repros. Need some help. Thanks

  10. So I picked up a what is said to be a Plymouth p15 from 1948. But I'm alittle confused cause the dash doesn't look like any that I've seen online. Im new to this and just wanted to see if its definalty a 1948 .
  11. I have a 48 Plymouth and when I pushed on the clutch and the pedal doesn't come back up at all. Have been messing with it for a couple weeks but can't seem to find the problem. Been looking for springs that might of broke off but I can't find it. Any help or guidance will be great. Thank you
  12. I've been driving my 48 plymouth with pretty loose steering for a while now. The other day I noticed that I now have some play in the column. The shaft inside the column that the wheel attaches to. I can wiggle the steering wheel up and down, not much, maybe 1/16th or 1/8th inch. Just enough to notice it isn't right. I have the shop manual but all it says is that "there should not be any up and down movement of the steering wheel at the steering column jacket." It does not make it clear how to fix that issue. In the exploded view it looks like that shaft goes all the way from the steering wheel down through the worm gear, is that right? I'm wondering what I should look for to take that movement out of the steering wheel. If anyone's had this issue before. Thanks!

  14. Hi, this might not lead to anything, but maybe, just maybe it does. I am being offered a 1948 Chrysler Windsor for purchase, apparently only had one owner previously (a lady that was given this car as a present in 1948; great story I find), was directly sold to the current owner roughly 2/ 3 years ago (the max). What I have is a rough picture; the original license plate info (Virginia; 35-044), which indicates that the car was situated in Virginia. That's it. Now I would love to find out who that previous owner might have been. So again, maybe, just maybe this information does ring a bell to anyone. Would be fun, somehow :-) Thanks for joining the not-so-much-sherlock-holmes ride. Thom
  15. Looking for help on my 1950 panel. Looking for body parts and hopefully pics of one with good floor braces and door jambs. Needs lots. Any and all help appreciated thanks in advance.

  20. Hello everyone. My name is Virgil, I live in Colorado Springs, and I recently picked up my first street rod project. I am 27, dad, husband, and I was in the Marines from 2005-2011. Ok so about the car. This will be my first complete build. I learned how to weld from my grandad. I learned alot on my own so far but I know there is plenty more for me to learn. I picked up a 1966 Chrysler 383 for $200 bucks that I plan to drop in it. Motor is complete minus intake and carb but I did get all the pulleys, accessories, and all the nuts and bolts the guy could find. Going to keep looking for a 4-speed for it. With all that said and done I am into this project so far for $900 and I am trying to keep it that way. I am in no way saying that I will be taking the cheap route on everything I do. If I need to spend money to do something the right way I will but where I can save I want to. I have seen that a shock relocation on the front of these helps. I dont want to spend $2K on a Mustang 2 front end. I also have seen that the steering will be an issue with my big block. So I have a few questions: 1. What rearend should I be looking for? (trying to stay all Mopar, 383 will be a mild build) 2. How good is the front end on these? What do I need to change/upgrade? 3. Anything I need to know before I start the build? I plan on doing everything I can myself. I orginally wanted to build a gasser but the more I looked at the body I saw it more of the cruiser for the family. Thanks in advance for everyone's comments and inputs.
  21. Was fortunate enough to pick up a 47 d24 coupe but it has no starter, wondering if anyone knows what compatible starters would mate up with the 230/fluid drive trans that is in it. Its driving me nuts. Any help would be appreciated.
