  1. I am doing the brakes on my '42. For the wheel cylinders I can find listings for the '46 and '47 model years, but I have not found listings for the pre war trucks. 1946 listings, CENTRIC 13467022 for the left sides and CENTRIC 13467021 for the right sides Were there changes to brakes from 1942 to '46? I think both were stepped 1 1/4 and 1 3/8 bores. I am concerned if the 1.75 centers mounts in '42 went to 2.00 centers in '46? Does anyone have a parts list for wheel cylinders and backing plates than include the model years of '42 and '46 to see if they changed? Thank you for your assistance.
  2. What is the difference between a 6 volt positive ground regulator and a 6 volt negative ground regulator? I know the difference between positive and negative ground. I just can't think of the reason why the voltage regulator on these old cars would care. I plan to replace mine this spring when I go back to 6 volt from 8 volt and I came across some marked positive ground and some marked negative ground. As to why the switch back to 6 volts from 8 volts? I went to 8 volts some years ago due to some pretty poor wiring and connections. A few years ago I rewired the car and it has worked great. My 8 volt battery has gone kaput, no shame it is pretty old, so I wish to replace with a high CCA 6 volt. When I adjusted my current voltage regulator to support the 8 volt battery I remember thinking "I should probably replace this thing", but I can't remember why. I think my memory went south with the 8 volt battery.... LOL. Anyway I plan to have a new one on hand when I start to adjust the old one in case I remember when I get it open. Neither of these are the one I bought, they are just for illustrative purposes.
  3. Hello guys and gals, I intend to convert my 1951 B3B Dodge 1/2 ton to an electronic ignition and would appreciate anyone sharing their experience with this conversion. I am not having any luck finding a kit that is a clear match to the flathead six. I should also add that the conversion includes going to a 12 volt system. Thanks in advance, Terry.
  4. He everyone. I am a new member to the site. My question is, in your experience, is it okay to use the gauge of wire that is listed in the B3B wiring diagram when converting the electrics to a 12 volt negative ground? I am completely restoring the truck and will soon be ready to rewire. I have the B3B wiring diagram but am wondering what you folks have to say about the wire gauge for this conversion. Thanks in advance for sharing. Glad I found this site. Terrence
  5. I am planning on refinishing the present white oak boards in my '51 B3B. I thought if I was taking it apart, that I would probably change the bed strips and bed angle strips to stainless steel. Companies that list the strips for my vehicle state," the mounting holes are drilled per original specs". I have learned through experience that a lot of original specs have been changes on my truck by previous owners. So I want to check that holes in my present strips are stock. Two companies who sell this product are so busy that they have not responded to email inquiries for the mount locations. These are front to back measurements for the mount locations(approximate), on my 78" strips. The bed and side angle strips seem to match pretty good except for the second bolt location on the bed stips; Bed Side angle 4" 4" 14" 16" 24" 24" 40" 40" 53.5" 53.5" 65.5" 65.5" 77.3" 77.3" Also does anyone have opinions on the stainless side angle strips that cover the original steel side strips, that are welded to the bed sides? The paint on my truck is decent and I don't want to remove the originals and damage the paint. Thank you for your assistance.
  6. What would have/should have gone on my firewall to cover the starter button hole? Car came with a poorly made piece of plastic crap. I hate to put it back because it’s.... gross. Wondering if I can adapt a leather shift boot... ?
